3 EASY VALENTINES CRAFTS FOR KIDS

Valentines Day is coming up fast. If you’re looking for some ‘Valentines’ crafts to make with your kids, then I have just the thing for you. Some of these crafts make the most perfect gifts for parents, grandparents or loved ones. Why not give a handmade bunch of flowers? Or make some glittery hearts to distribute as ‘tokens of affection’.

If you’re looking for some fun, easy kids Valentines crafts to do then look no further. They are all designed to be super simple, so that even the youngest of toddlers can help to make them.

Bunch Of ‘Handprint’ Flowers

3 Easy Valentines Crafts For Kids

How adorable are these flowers? And they were so easy to make. We made 9 flowers, but this would still work with a lot less. Evie is going to be giving these to her grandparents for Valentines day, but for now she likes having them in her room as bedroom as her very own plant. To make these handprint flowers…

You’ll need:

  • White Card
  • Paint (we used pink, red and purple)
  • Paint Brush
  • Green Pipe Cleaners
  • Pink Shredded Tissue Paper
  • Flower Pot
  • Scissors
  • Sellotape

Simply paint your childs hand and press it down onto card. We made 9 handprints with three different colours. We made sure to keep the handprints a little way apart so we could easily cut them out. While they are drying, find a plant pot and fill it with a little bit of shredded tissue paper (not much though, you’ll be adding more later). When the handprints are dry, cut them out and on the back, attach green pipe cleaners with sellotape. When all the flowers are stuck with pipe cleaners, we recommend twisting the pipe cleaners around each other so that the bunch becomes intertwined. This makes it stand up better in the pot. Next put the bunch of flowers into your pot and put more shredded paper on top to keep the flowers steady.

Valentines Heart ‘Token’

3 Easy Valentines Crafts For Kids

Instead of making a traditional ‘Valentines Card’, we made Valentines tokens this year. I asked Evie who she wanted to make a card for and she listed a whole bunch of people, so we made these ‘foam tokens’ instead. They were so much fun to create and so easy.

You will need:

  • 1 x Sheet Of Pink Foam
  • Sequins / Stickers
  • Scissors
  • Glitter
  • Glue

Before we started I bought 1 A4 sheet of pink foam and cut it into 6 hearts. I then lay out a little table of sequinsm gems and stickers and Evie set to work filling up the hearts and making them sparkly. At the end we covered some of the hearts with glue and sprinkled purple glitter on the back of them. We’ve left the backs of them blank so Evie can write a Valentines message on the back of them.

Love Bug

3 Easy Valentines Crafts For Kids

How adorable is this ‘love bug’, aka the Valentines butterfly. We loved how this turned out and it’s quickly become Evie’s favourite thing to play with.

You will need:

  • Empty Toilet Roll Tube
  • 2 Pink Pipecleaners
  • Pink Card / Pink Sheet Of Foam
  • Paint (we used purple)
  • Paint Brush
  • Googly Eyes
  • Black Pen
  • Sequins / Stickers
  • Glue
  • Sellotape
  • Scissors

To make the love bug, start by painting an empty toilet roll tube. We chose the colour purple so we could make a pink/purple themed loved bug. While you’re waiting for it to dry, cut out wings from a pink sheet of foam or card. We cut the ends of the wings to make them look like hearts (well…that was the idea, it didn’t turn out quite how we wanted). Then decorate the back of the wings (and front if you like) and make them as sparkly and lovely as you like. We glued on sequins and gems. When the toilet roll tube is dry, stick on the wings with glue (or double sided sticky tape) and some googly eyes. We made the face more animated by drawing on eyelashes and a mouth. Stick some stickers or gems on the toilet roll tube. Then, add pipe cleaner for ears. We twisted these around Evie’s fingers to make the ends of them twirly and then stuck the ears on the inside of the toilet roll tube using sellotape. Your love bug is now complete.
