Finding the time and the energy to work out when you have a baby might sound a bit challenging. But you really don’t need a gym membership, the latest home running machine or even a babysitter in order to exercise.

The last thing you might want to do when you’ve had little sleep and you’ve got a hectic day ahead, is to work out. But, as much as I hate to be another one that chimes this: exercise actually makes you feel great!

It wakes you up, it releases endorphins and as a bonus, it can help you to get the body you really want.

When I first had Evie I scoured the internet for different workouts and quite frankly, it gave me a bit of a headache. I didn’t want something long or really intense, but I wanted short, fun work outs that I could fit in around my baby. I finally found some. Here are 3 workouts for busy mums:

3 Workouts For Busy Mums

1. Blogilates

Our first workout for busy mums is Blogilates. Instructor Casey Ho makes exercising so much fun. She’s happy. She’s motivating. She’s challenging. Her workouts are typically only a few minutes long which is perfect for fitting in around your baby or toddler. She has so many videos available and all for free on youtube.

You can even pick which body part you want to work on. You can mix and match videos, do full body workouts and if you really need motivation she has a monthly downloadable workout calendar, which gives you great daily workout challenges.

Find her here: blogilates.com

2. Yoga

If you’re a busy mum looking for a more relaxing type of exercise, then try yoga. I have two incredible apps on my iPad. ‘Yoga’ and ‘Yoga Studio’. Both are great for beginners.

I love doing these before bed or if Evie’s napping. There are some great sets that really help you to wind down. Yoga not only helps you to tone up, but it strengthens your body and makes you feel really relaxed.

I occasionally do yoga when Evie’s absorbed with her toys. Sometimes she giggles at me when I’m doing downward facing dog and sometimes she even tries to join in. The changes in my body since doing yoga have been drastic.

Find ‘Yoga’ here: yoga.com

Find ‘Yoga Studio’ here: yogastudioapp,com

3. Mumsdays

If both of those still sound like they’d take up more time and effort than you have, then how about a nice, simple 15 minute full body workout?

Our third workout suggestion for busy mums is by Hannah, a mum and parent blogger over at Mums Days. She has created a 15 minute full body workout, devised by a top personal trainer. Hannah knows how hard it is to squeeze in a work out with children. But she set herself a 30 day challenge recently and looks amazing for it.

I’ve tried this workout several times now and boy does it work those muscles you’ve forgotten about. If you need more motivation or a sense of community, then she’s also started up a fit club online where you can check in, motivate each other and set monthly goals.

I really must get into this. At the moment I walk up and down the road to school and nursery three times a day but I really think I need something more toning.

    • July 4, 2015 / 6:43 am

All of these workouts are 15 minutes and under as well which is so perfect. They’re all toning exercises too although blogilates has a bit of cardio thrown in. 😀 x

Fab advice here and some great work out options, will def be checking them out! I find walking with the buggy everyday great as gets us put of the house, the baby gets fresh air and I can set a good pace to walk off the wobbles. Have just started yoga again too as I need to tone up! Thanks for linking with #MaternityMondays xx

These looks great.. I think I will struggle a lot more for time when I decide to have baby no 2! At the mo I can fit the gym in quite nicely. I wish I did more yoga generally as I’m sure would help with any general aches and pains xx #maternitymondays

Ooo I’ll have to give these a try. Running is usually my exercise of choice but it can be tough to fit in, exercising at home would be much more achievable. #MaternityMondays

    • July 7, 2015 / 7:37 pm

These are all short little burst exercises too. You can choose the length and what you’re working on. 🙂 x

Popping over from #twinklytuesdays and this is so relevant for me! Much much needed to thanks for the tips. I always ‘mean’ to exercise but somehow it just doesn’t seem to happen and after I finally get the kiddos to sleep, Im exhausted! Ho Hum! Lets hope this inspires me….

    • July 7, 2015 / 7:38 pm

Fingers crossed! I sometimes do these throughout the day, first thing in the morning or just after Evie has gone to bed before my bum hits any soft furnishing or I won’t move at all haha. x

Yoga is amazing. I was doing 10mins of yoga every day for a few months and could really see myself toning up nicely. I’ve lost all motivation at the minute, need to get back in to the habit of doing it every day again. Great list xx #TheList

  12. July 16, 2015 / 4:44 pm

I think I will have a look at Mumsdays! I try to do 15 minute work out most days of the week but I fail {a lot}!

Thank you so much for linking up with this weeks #justanotherlinky hope too see you again Sunday!

    • July 19, 2015 / 2:46 pm

It is a great workout. I think she’s planning on doing some more. x

  13. January 2, 2016 / 10:48 am

Ooo definitely going to check out the Mumsdays workout – my exercise bike is getting a tad on the boring side! xx

    • January 3, 2016 / 5:21 pm

The Mumsday workout is so good! I find that cardio machines get a bit boring after a while too. The blogilates is great because she releases new workouts every week and you can pick and choose what you do. I’ve gotten so toned from doing her workouts. x

  14. October 20, 2016 / 9:12 am
