5 UNIQUE BABY SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

5 UNIQUE BABY SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

There seems to be a common theme in my peer group at the moment. Weddings and baby showers. They seem to be popping up left right and centre and our weeks seem to be packed with gift buying for one event or the other.

I’ve been to my fair share of baby showers over the last few years, my own included. After talking to a few of my friends, most of us agree that we are always kind of stumped with what to buy for baby showers and our friends that are ‘parents-to-be’.

You see, new parents get really excited. I can vouch for the fact that we tend to go on mini shopping sprees and end up buying everything we need for baby life, before the baby shower even comes around.

So, what on earth can you buy them?

In this post I’ve rounded up 5 unique baby shower gift ideas. If you’re not sure what to get, any of these would be so appreciated and they’re unlikely to already have them.

We’re also running a giveaway below, to win two of the items we mention! Read to the bottom of the post to find out more!

5 Unique Baby Shower Gift Ideas

Our list includes gifts just for Mums, gifts just for dads, gifts to capture precious moments and gifts to help parents even through the toddler years.

1. Mums Back –

5 Unique Baby Shower Gift Ideas

This is quite possibly my favourite gift idea for a new Mum! There is a company called ‘Mums Back’ who designs hampers especially for Mums. There is so much focus on baby, us Mums need a bit of pampering too. Sally, the creator of Mums Back, has carefully curated gift boxes full of the things that Mums just aren’t allowed in pregnancy, so that as soon as they pop, they can fully indulge and enjoy the things they’ve really missed out on.

2. Baby Record Book –

5 Unique Baby Shower Gift Ideas

A keepsake record book is such a must have for new parents. This will be such a lovely gift for a baby shower and the perfect hand me down for when baby gets older. I found my baby milestone book the other day and I was gutted that my mum hadn’t filled much of it in. Perhaps overcompensating, but my daughter has two different ones because we couldn’t decide on which one we loved the most.

3. Milestone Cards –

5 Unique Baby Shower Gift Ideas

These cards are just a lovely idea for any baby shower gift list! Baby’s grow up so fast. These cards take you all through the first year of your babies life. The idea is to take pictures of your baby at different milestones using these cards to explain the capture, e.g. when they get their first tooth and when they start walking.

4. Mummy Loves Organics –

5 Unique Baby Shower Gift Ideas

This is another gift just for Mums. Well and Dads too. This is a very unique candle and there are designs for both pregnant Mums and new parents. Each candle is made from specific essential oils that are designed to help different ailments. For example, if you’re experiencing bad periods of morning sickness, there is a candle that can help with that. What’s more, when the candle burns it leaves behind a massage oil. Half an hour after the candle has cooled down you can use that oil to give yourself or your partner a massage!

5. Why Is My Kid Crying Book –

5 Unique Baby Shower Gift Ideas

I was bought this ‘Reason My Kids Is Crying’ book for my baby shower and I have to say it has come in handy on so many occasions. Especially on those days when my daughter just didn’t stop crying and even more so when the toddler tantrums started to come in. It’s so easy to feel stressed as a parent and upset if your kid cries and moans a lot (which is so normal when you have a toddler).

*Bonus – Don’t forget the Dads!

Too many people forget the dads during pregnancy! Mums get a lot of pampering and fuss. It’s so easy to rustle together a quick Daddy Survival Kit. You can click here to see a full list of what’s in our Daddy Survival Kit!

Wow those scratch off calendars look exciting – wish they had them around ten years ago when I was pregnant with mine! x

I wish I’d had it for my two but I’d love to win it for my friend who is expecting her first.

  5. October 12, 2015 / 3:33 pm

I think its a fab idea, not just for the new Mum but for the new Dad, who may not be a reader of books, blogs and baby websites, but can glance at this often.

    • October 15, 2015 / 6:58 pm

I agree, it’s so perfect for dads too. It keeps them involved. I think women look things up more whereas dads just go with it, so this is a nice quick way for them to feel more apart of the pregnancy. x

  6. October 12, 2015 / 10:47 pm

This is a great list and very original!! I like the sound of the BabySteps scratch on calendar. I haven’t seen this before. I would’ve loved to have something like that when I was pregnant because I was always desperate to know what was happening every day with my baby. I’m sure all pregnant women are the same. It is a great giveaway. I didn’t do the Baby hand and foot print casting kit with any of my daughters and I think it was silly of me as it would’ve been lovely to have that. Thanks so much lovely for linking up with me at #KCACOL. I hope you join me again next Sunday! 🙂 x

    • October 15, 2015 / 7:03 pm

Thank you so much. The calendar sounds brilliant doesn’t it. Were you like me and googled everything all the time? I think I signed up to all the baby weekly e-mail sites to see how my baby was growing every week. But this would have been perfect and a great way for dads to see what’s going on too.
We were bought a casting kit and I’m so glad we were. Our mould are a little bit squiffy (it’s surprisingly hard to keep their wiggly feet and hands still) but you can definitely see how small they are. Thank you so much for hosting. I adore your new linky. x

  7. October 15, 2015 / 11:39 pm

Looks great – not seen these before

I´m currently expecting number two, so I´ve entered the competition as it´s such a sweet idea I never would have thought of as a gift! I´ve also got on my Baby shower list this time around; Baby swaddlers (didn´t get these for my first) and one of those baby bottle machines that are like a nespresso for formula milk!! #picknmix

I hope you’re enjoying pregnancy! It’s a brilliant idea isn’t it. Baby swaddlers are genius, we didn’t have these either but wish we did. O’ve also heard of those nespresso time baby bottle machines. They must make it so much easier. x

  10. October 21, 2015 / 6:43 am

I wish the baby milestone cards had been around when mine were small, it would save the trying to guess how old they were in each pic for a start!
Thanks for linking up to #Picknmix Stevie x

    • October 22, 2015 / 7:08 pm

haha I know what you mean! We’ve recently sorted through our pictures and put them into folders with the month of the year name. Half of them are just guesses and mostly we’re going by the outfit, if it looks like a summers outfit it must be June haha. x

Baby Milestone Cards seem a great idea. Baby Shower can be Fun, as Refreshments, Gifts, Games, etc. My Ideal Baby Shower would be one which includes Mum to Be, Dad to Be, Expectant Grandparents, Expectant Great- Granparents, etc. Would be Lovely to have the various Generations, as well as those who are going to be close ( there for the baby, etc for time to come / future) e.g Expectant Aunts, Expectant Uncles, Godparents to Be. Welcoming New Life / Family Addition can be a time to Unite and Prepare for the Future.
