5 EASY STYLISH UPDO’S FOR BUSY MUMS

Do you ever see other mums who just seem to always have it altogether? They don’t have food stains on their clothes, they don’t have messy bed hair and they somehow look like they’ve just stepped out of an issue of Elle magazine.

Now, I can’t give you any tips on how to prevent baby inspired clothes, or even how to do the school run and not look like a dishevelled mess… but I can give you tips on how to get beautiful stylish hair in less than a few minutes!

Guess what…you don’t even need to wash your hair!

Not only have we pulled together some quick easy stylish updo’s for you, but we’ve also included some really helpful video tutorials, so that you can get the polished look in no time at all. So grab your dry shampoo and hairbrush and check out these…

5 Easy Stylish Updo’s For Busy Mums

5 easy stylish updos for busy mums

Now you’re a parent, time is so precious. We no longer have time for high maintenance hair styles, or putting on makeup. I don’t even remember the last time I wore nail varnish!

When you don’t have a lot of time on your hands, it’s really easy to skimp over your hair, but sometimes it’s nice to step outside and feel a bit more like ‘we’ve got this’.

1. Messy Bun

Our first easy stylish updo for busy mums, is the messy bun.

You’ve just got out of bed, you need to get your kids breakfast, grab their stuff together and make it out the door for the school run.

The messy bun is the quickest way to get rid of bedhead and it looks so stylish. In 30 seconds you can look effortlessly chic and coupled with a pair of skinny jeans and ankle boots, you’ll be the envy of the school gates.

2. Milkmaid Braids

Our second easy stylish updo is milkmaid braids. I absolutely love milkmaid braids. They look eye-catching yet are so easy to recreate.

This is such a perfect goto hairstlye for busy mums and I’ve only recently realised how simple it is to do. I have lots of short wispy baby hairs, but I can still pull this hairstyle off. A bit of hairspray keeps those short bits at bay.

3. Half-Up Half Down

Hair in front of your face can be so annoying when you have a baby. Simply leaning over to change a nappy when you have long hair, will make you want to clip it up instantly.

I love wearing my hair half up, half down. Mostly because I really love having my hair down, but get so aggravated when it falls in front of my face.

There are so many ways you can pull your hair back from your face. Just grab a few simple bobby pins or a stylish hair grip. But, if you want to look a little bit more stylish and like you’re fresh out of the salon, then this ‘romantic’ ponytail is the perfect half-up, half-down hair style for you.

I love that this hairstyle can easily be worn on a night out or to a party. I also love that you can put as much or as little hair up as you like.

4. The Headband Tuck

Another stylish updo for busy mums is the simple headband tuck. It looks really elegant and you wouldn’t believe that it takes minutes to do. Plus you can choose whichever style headband you want to, to give it a bit more of your personal style.

5. The Ponytail

Do you love just whipping your hair back into an easy ponytail? We do too! But, a really simple and effective way to make your ponytail look a little bit more stylish, is with a hair wrap.

It sounds complicated, but it literally takes an extra few seconds.

What do you think?

My favourite out of all of these hairstyles in the milkmaid braids. What’s even better is that any of these can be pulled together for a rare dinner date out, a coffee catch up with friends or just for a quick nip to the shops.

    Love these styles <3
I think my all time go to style would be the simple messy bun! I can never get it as good as most of the beauty bloggers though but it severs its purpose I guess.
Will be needing it a lot in Feb once cubby comes EEEK!
Would love to try the Milkmaid braids though looks so cute.

I always have my hair down I think I need to do something different with it. I like the idea of a half up half down style.

Sharing this with my daughter who has beautiful long hair, but like to wear it up because of three little kids she chases after.

I love an updo and I’m also a massive fan of braids. I can spend hours watching tutorials on YouTube. I always feel so much more together when I know that my hair looks nice. Love these choices. Hugs Lucy xxxx

Ahhh, milkmaid braids, how adorable!!! I really need some styles other than the mom bun (which is a messier style of the messy bun, haha). But, with my hair down to my rump, and an 18 month old running circles around me, it’s tough to manage. Thanks so much for these simple tutorials!! <3

The messy bun is my absolute favourite “go to” hairstyle! It’s just so quick and easy to do, although it never looks as good as the beauty blogger tutorials but hey, i’m just a busy mama in a rush! I love the look of that romantic ponytail though! xx
