What does your morning look like? Do you hit snooze when your alarm goes off in the morning? Do you drag yourself zombie-like to the kettle? Do you spend the first hour of the morning feeling sluggish and lacking in energy?
Just before Christmas, I started switching up my morning ritual of snoozing and crying into my pillow and instead I pushed myself to wake up straight away and committed myself to doing a 5 Minute ‘Energising’ Morning Wake-Up Workout!
I’ve been doing this for two weeks now and i have to say, it has transformed my mornings. If, like me, one of your New Years goals is to take better care of your body and to do more exercise, then I fully recommend trying this. One of the biggest excuses for not doing exercise if lack of time. But this workout can be easily slotted into your morning routine and can even be completed while you’re waiting for the kettle to boil.
This 5 minute workout will not only wake you up, but it will make you feel instantly energised and ready to take on the day. The best part? This full-body workout doesn’t need any equipment and you can even do it in your pyjamas!
After two weeks of trying this out, I feel so much more energetic. I still get the ‘I want 15 more minutes’ feeling as soon as my alarm goes off (either my regular alarm or my toddler alarm), but as soon as I start the workout I instantly feel more awake and ready for my day.
Here are 5 more reasons it’s great for you!
5 Reasons To Do The 5 Minute Morning ‘Wake-Up’ Workout
- A five minute intense workout is the equivalent of adding an extra espresso shot to your coffee.
- You will feel instantly more awake and happier due to the release of endorphins.
- You will be starting a healthy habit and will be more likely to commit to more consistent exercise.
- You will be jump-starting your metabolism for at least an hour following the workout.
- You will improve your productivity and will feel more focused for several hours.
Getting out of bed, especially when its still dark and dismal outside can be such a challenge. If you’re someone who then spends the next half an hour dragging your feet to the kettle, the shower and your car, then this 5 minute morning wake-up workout is for you.
