Bali is home to beaches, beautiful mountains, temples, waterfalls, forests, markets and a lot of history. There is so much to explore and the island really accommodates for kids. There are a a lot of family attractions and plenty of family friendly accommodation to choose from.

What’s more, Indonesians love children and are extremely welcoming. If you’re planning a trip to Bali with your kids, you’ll be pleased to know there is lots to do for the whole family. We’ve rounded up 5 of our favourite things to do in Bali with kids, but this list is by no means extensive. Here’s our top five:

1.Waterbom Park

One of the most fun things to do in Bali with kids is to visit the Waterbom Park. The water park is said to be the best in the whole of Asia and boasts many fun slides and pools for kids to splash in.

It has a minimum of twelve slides, a flow rider and probably the most photographed is the lazy river. You could spend a whole day in the Waterbom Park splashing about and having fun. They even have a swim up bar and an onsite restaurant to fill those hungry bellies.

2. Animal Parks

If exploring nature and meeting animals is more what you’re looking, there are plenty of animal related things to do in Bali with kids. The Bali Bird Park is a perfect visit for even the youngest in your family. There are over 250 species of birds to learn about.

You can also take part in feeding experiences and you can even meet some of the birds. If birds isn’t your thing though, there are lots of other animal parks to choose from. From the Reptile Park, to a Butterfly Farm, Bali’s Zoo and for the braver explorers out there, there is the Bali Safari and Marine Park.

3. Bali Treetop Adventure Park

The Bali Treetop Adventure park is one of the most thrilling things to do in Bali with kids. Even better is that they have different routes with varying levels of difficulties dependant on your kids age, so long as they are 4+. What better way to see Bali than up in the trees?

The adventure park is set in the most beautiful of surroundings. A day out here will allow you to take part in a series of rope-walking courses among trees in Bali’s largest botanical gardens.

4. Explore Ubud

There are plenty of things to do in Bali with kids, that don’t involve visiting ‘attractions’. Even exploring the local towns can be a wonderful, fulfilled family day out. Ubud is one of the highest recommended places for families to visit and there is plenty to do in Ubud for all ages.

The Ubud Market, referred to as ‘Pasar Seni Ubud’ is well worth a visit. They sell everything from sarongs (which you’ll need to enter the temples) to clothes, crafts, foods and souvenirs. The locals here are so friendly and it’s the perfect stop to let your kids pick up something nice and to see a traditional Indonesian market.

Other things to do in Ubud include visiting caves, museums, waterfalls and going bicycle tours, which is a great way to explore more of rural bali. Or if you’re a homeschooling family, why not visit the local library? The library has books for a whole range of languages and they also host kids music and dance lessons that anyone can join in with.

5. Ubud Monkey Forest

One of the most famous things to do in Bali with kids, is visit the Sacred Monkey Forest. Attracting thousands of visitors ever week, The Monkey Forest is right in the heart of Ubud. Beware if you take smaller kids to The Monkey Forest though, as the monkeys can be unpredictable and can frighten easily if children shriek or make loud noises.

If you do visit, make sure you don’t have any food on you, as monkeys will try to take these. But, there are plenty of warning signs around and instructions on how you should behave. The forest is a beautiful experience and is home to the grey long-tailed macaques. Even the oldest of kids will love watching these playful monkeys in their natural habitat.

6. Banjar Hot Springs

There are so many lakes, waterfalls and natural pools to visit in Bali. A local favourite is the Banjar Hot Springs. The Banjar Hot Springs welcomes all ages and is a calming set of bathing pools, set over several levels and surrounded by tropical forests.

It’s a really lovely experience and a wonderful thing to do in Bali with kids. One of the most eye-catching features are the dragon spouts, that pump out the hot spring water. There is also a restaurant and souvenir shop on site. The water is slightly cloudy at times, but is clean and completely natural.

There are so many more family things to do in Bali, from lounging on beaches, to playing with Elephants, to hiking mountains and exploring temples. Bali is a perfect destination for a family holiday and one we cannot recommend enough.

    That water park looks so lovely with all the natural foliage, and I bet you get to see some exotic and beautiful birds in the animal parks. My favourite would have to be swinging in the treetops…what an amazing view and original way to take in the scenery

    We’ve never been to Bali and weren’t sure about putting it on our to-do list now we have our son but it’s good to know there are lots of things to do in Bali with kids. So maybe we need to rethink!
