8 EASY STEPS FOR A HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE

I believe achieving a healthier lifestyle is easier than most people anticipate. As long as you have motivation and inspiration, you can achieve this goal. Seriously, it isn’t hard at all!

I have been waking up everyday feeling excitable and happy. My motivation levels have been through the roof! This is all due to the simple and easy things I have changed in my routine and lifestyle. Trust me, figuring this out earlier rather than later, is fitter in the long run. Excuse the pun.

Read these 8 easy steps to a healthy lifestyle below. I guarantee you will be surprised by the simplicity of these baby steps to becoming a healthier and more goal driven individual.

Morning Routine

1. Wake up early during weekdays

Adopting a wake up routine will ensure no late mornings lazing around in bed. Get active early and you will have more energy for the day. If you’re really not a morning person, then you really need to read ‘10 Steps To A Better Morning‘.

2. Drink a big glass, or two, of water

Tea is also great during the chilly winter mornings. You will feel hydrated and your mind set. I always find that getting hydrated early focuses your mind, not to mention how healthy this is for your body.

3. Do exercise

Whether you like to run, hit the weights, take a swim or ride a bike, it is imperative to get some exercise in you. You will feel great for the rest of the day! Physically and emotionally you will feel on top of everything in your life.

4. Have balanced meals throughout the day

Your muscles will be craving protein after your exercise, so don’t waste time and get eating. Try and fit in some oils and dairy in your meals. Have a fruit at snack time, and try cook with vegetables with every main meal. Carbs are very important, try not neglect them like a lot of us do! They’ll give you that energy you’ll need every morning and send you on your way.

5. Regulated time intervals between meals

Something I tend to bend, for example always eating dinner too early and then I’m starving before bed. My way of handling this is to have a snack between breakfast and lunch, and then again between lunch and dinner. It is very important to give your body time to digest that delicious food properly! Your body will function better, taking in the right amount of nutrients when needed.

6. Don’t forget to keep drinking water

By far my all time favourite, maybe I just love water too much. You’d think I’m a camel, drinking around 3.5ltr a day. You are suggested to have 2ltr a day, but I’d say more than that, especially if doing exercise in the morning! 7. Keep the alcohol on a down low –

Especially after such a successful day. Okay, one glass is perfectly fine, maybe not every night however. Try and keep the midnight caps, or a glass of wine with friends, for the weekend. Alcohol will slow you down, and make you more sluggish in the morning. It also damages all that healthy muscle growth you’ve been working on!

8. Have an early night –

Schedule a bedtime and stick to it, honestly. Everyone needs their beauty sleep, and it only makes waking up that much easier. If you find you can’t get to sleep early, try doing some light breathing and meditative exercises at night time or during the day. This should help relieve the mind and give it some juice again.     I definitely agree with getting up early and having regular sleep patterns. I’m afraid I need to stick to the regular meals though, I’m forever missing meals x

    This is a great step by step guide and you are right drinking water is important, but it can be hard to do in the winter because it’s so cold. I keep a bottle with me all the time to remind me to keep drinking it. I definitely need to start exercising more, i know that is the key to having more energy. I also need to cut down on the old glass of wine 🙂

    Excellent tips! Doing more or less all of them except the last one. I just feel there is not enough hours during a day so I just can’t go to sleep early.

    This is an excellent post and a good reminder of why we need to look after ourselves more. I’ve just lost 60lbs in under a year – the wake-up call was my brother’s leukaemia diagnosis. I realised that should my body ever need to be fit enough to fight, it wouldn’t have been fit enough for anything in the condition it was in previously. I feel fitter and more confident than I have done for many years. Not bad for a mum of thirteen!
