BARCELONA, BILLIONS AND ROCK PAINTING #LITTLELOVES

BARCELONA, BILLIONS AND ROCK PAINTING #LITTLELOVES

What a wonderful couple of weeks. We’ve just got back from Barcelona and oh my, it was amazing. It was my second time visiting Barcelona and I have to say, it was probably not only my favourite visit but also one of my favourite holidays ever. I cannot believe how much we crammed in, and also just how much we chilled out.

We left Evie at home with her Dad and other family, so it was also nice to have a chance to be kiddy free for a few days abroad. It was also my first bought of ‘real time off’ in a very long time and it was Aitan’s birthday holiday, so I got to spend some real quality time with him.

It definitely made me realise that I just do not know how to switch off from work. In fact, before I left, the whole idea of going away and not doing any blog work actually made me feel a little bit sick. How crazy is that?

I didn’t get to shut off completely though, as I did still have an hour of freelance work to do each day when I was there. But, other than that, I honestly just had three whole days off work!

I’d love to say I feel rejuvenated and yes, I really did enjoy just ‘being’. But, I also seriously did miss work. How silly is that? I am so addicted to it. And now I’m back, I’m officially in major catch up mode and I’m feeling very swamped.

I think when you work for yourself, sometimes the lines can really blur. When you go to work physically for a company everyday, you want to come home, you want to switch off and you wouldn’t dream of taking your work on holiday with you.

But, when you work from home it feels very different. Especially if you’re working on something that you’ve built and you’ve created. It’s so hard to step away from it and it’s also really hard to WANT to step away from it. It almost becomes a part of you, a part of your everyday and even a part of your family.

As much as I welcomed the chance to switch off, it did really make me see just how much I love my job and how grateful I am to get to do something I really enjoy.

Anyway, enough of the waffle. Here is my #LittleLoves from the week.

Barcelona, Billions And Rock Painting #LittleLoves

This week has been all about holidaying in the sun, eating way too much food, rock painting and finding my new favourite handbag:

Blogs Change Lives –

I really need to order a new fiction book to read from my must read for 2018 list. That’s on my list of things to do this week as I finished Uprooted a week or so ago. In the meantime I’ve been flicking through Aby Moore’s new book called ‘Blogs Change Lives’.

Barcelona, Billions and Rock Painting

If you don’t know Aby, she is the creator of a parenting blog called ‘You Baby Me Mummy’. When Ifirst started blogging, I fell so in love with her blog and joined in with her ‘linkys’ every week without fail. She then went on to start a business where she helped parent bloggers to grow big and she started her ‘Mamapreneur Revolution’. I actually interviewed her last year on Life Unexpected, you can read all about that here: Interview With A Mumpreneur – You Baby Me Mummy.

Aby’s new book is brilliant. It’s all about blogging and offers lots of blogging tips. It takes you right from how to start a blog all the way through to how you can make it big. What I really love about it though, is that it’s not just any other blogging tips book. It showcases Aby’s own journey, literally from the moment she first sat down and blogged, right up until right now and what’s happening in her world at the moment.

Finding out all about another bloggers growth is so inspiring. I think seeing all the different avenues and paths that someone took to get to where they are now, is so interesting to read about. Everyones story is so different, but Aby’s book really opens up your eyes to the possibilities of what is out there and what you can do with one little space on the internet, that is all yours.

Billions –

Yay, Billions is back for season 3! My fiancee got me obsessed with this show back in November and we have been eagerly awaiting the next series for ages now.

If you’ve not watched Billions before, the show follows a billionaire trader who gets into a dispute with the New York District Attorney. The New York District Attorney’s wife just happens to be working with the billionaire trader too, as his personal counsellor. So, it all gets pretty darn messy at times.

The whole series is a feud between the two men, it involves a lot of money and its very addictive to watch. It also makes you think about what you would be like if you had billions in the bank like Axel Rod, the main character. He really doesn’t seem to have much of a moral compass, yet he came from nothing and once upon a time did have.

Pursuit With Purpose Podcast –

I am so addicted to the Pursuit With Purpose podcast by Melyssa Griffin. I posted about it in one of my #LittleLoves a few weeks ago. Melyssa is a super blogger, who teaches other bloggers how to be successful. Now she has stepped back a little bit from her blog and is focusing big time on her podcast ‘Pursuit With Purpose’. Every week she interviews someone very inspiring.

In the podcast I listened to this week, she interviewed Jordan Harbinger, who is a social dynamics expert. He teaches people how to remove the mask of shyness so that they can be more outgoing, charismatic and so they can communicate better with people. This is so that they can grow further as a person and in business.

I am a complete introvert and I am so painfully shy it’s not even funny. Unfortunately though, this means that I am a conversation avoider. I physically clam up if someone tries to speak to me and most of the time I come across as so rude even though it’s really not intentional. I honestly want to talk to people, I just don’t know how.

This podcast has been incredibly enlightening for someone who is such an introvert like me. I’ve found that my shyness has really been holding me back lately, especially as I need to be networking and making connections.

The great thing about the interview is finding out that Jordan used to be a major introvert. He grew up being painfully shy too and made it his mission to become successful in life. But, success comes with charisma and networking, so he went on a journey to make himself an extrovert. The podcast has so many helpful tips and tricks and I cannot wait to put some of the things I’ve learnt into practise. A must listen if you are an introvert to.

Rock Painting –

A few weeks ago I found a really gorgeous rock hidden by a tree in our local woods. I later found out that this is a thing that so many people are doing. They’re finding and decorating rocks and then hiding them for other people to find and move along.

Most towns and cities now have local ‘rock’ clubs . Usually, written on the bottom of the decorated rock, there will be a Facebook page of the local rock club it belongs to. That way you can go on and log your find and then hide the rock somewhere else to be found.

I think it’s such a lovely idea and really fun for kids to get involved with too. So, this week we bought some acrylic pens from Amazon and decorated our own rocks to hide about. Above are a few we’ve made so far.

I’ve written a little post about how to decorate rocks over here: Rock Painting For Kids. If you’re interested in taking part, definitely go and check it out.

Spring Bag –

I bought the most beautiful bag in Barcelona. I’m so in love with it. I have seen circle woven bags all over Instagram and I’ve wanted one for so long. I’ve seen a few in some popular high street shops, but I keep finding that they look really flimsy.

Barcelona, Billions and Rock Painting

I just happened to walk past this one in the window of a very random, but beautiful shop in a run down side street in Barcelona.

The one I previously had my eye on online, looked extremely similar to this one, but it was £250. This was 1/5th of that so I couldn’t resist getting it. It’s such a lovely quality and such a beautiful design. It’s so perfect for Spring/Summer and seems to go well with all my clothes. Bonus!

A New Giveaway –

And lastly, I have a couple of giveaways up on Life Unexpected and also a few more that are about to be launched. Do keep an eye on my ‘Blog Giveaways’ page where you’ll find any new ones I post.

This week you can still enter to win a kids these gorgeous Mountain Pillows from Lily Razz.

You sound exactly like me in terms of shyness and needing to get over it for the sake of my business. Your pics of Barcelona are gorgeous. It’s such a vibrant city, I loved it there when I visited years ago and always wanted to return. That bag is lovely too. Have a great weekend #littleloves

Sounds like you had a lovely time in Barcelona! I’ve never been, definitely one for the bucket list! Those cushions are adorable, I’m giving my son’s bedroom a makeover soon and they’d look fantastic! Enjoy your weekend xx

I have always wanted to visit Barcelona – it sounds like you had a wonderful time reconnecting with your fiancé and it looks like you had gorgeous weather too! That little bag you found is so cute. I love the rock painting idea – I’ve been looking out for them in my area but haven’t found any yet and I can’t seem to find a Facebook group either. Maybe I’ll have to start my own.

Barcelona is also high up on my travel list and looks like you had an amazing break away. Would love to visit without kids as we have never managed a trip abroad without them (though we have had plenty of kid free breaks in the UK). Ah your rocks look brilliant, especially the cute strawberry one x
