Starting this blog back in February 2015, I don’t think I realised just how much it would change my life. I think one of the best things about blogging is how unexpected it is and how unique the journey is for everybody. Your blog is a space where you can achieve anything, if you work hard and set your mind to it.

Everyday I’m astounded by the opportunities that other bloggers get, and by the messages that crop up in my own inbox. Yes, being a blogger is hard work. It’s not just a case of writing a few words and pressing publish. The hours are long and the work that goes into creating and promoting posts is crazy. But the rewards so far have been incredibly worth it.

Blogging Goals 2016

What started out as a creative outlet for me while on maternity leave, has turned into a huge part of my everyday life. I feel so lucky to get to share our life, and the fact that people want to read about our little Cornish adventures astounds me.

Every comment that hits my page brings me so much joy, as does every linker that shares their adventures on #whatevertheweather, and every person on social media who likes a post enough to share it.

One of my favourite things about blogging is the community of people that surrounds it. It is such a friendly community. I’ve met some incredible people who I reach out to daily. I love being a part of their journey and I love that they’re apart of mine, helping behind the scenes, giving advice and friendship.

Reflecting back on the last year and what blogging has given to my family, I am in awe.

We’ve been lucky enough to go on two staycations, one in St. Mawes and one at Bedruthan Steps, we’ve been sent some beautiful products, been out for both delicious and fun adventures and been featured in the local news. I’ve been given the opportunity to write articles for some incredible websites, been a brand ambassador for a lovely company and to top it off have been nominated for a blogging award as ‘parent blogger of the year‘.

None of this would have been possible without the support of my beautiful family and the encouragement from all of my friends. Thank you so much to all of you!

I have big plans for 2016, both in my personal life and my blogging life. I plan to hone my writing skills, to do some serious nesting in my home and to travel, travel, travel. I also have a big dream to make my own organisation products and sell them through my blog.

I hardly touched my laptop at all over Christmas, and although it felt so good to disconnect, I missed the community of friends I’ve made, and I missed Life Unexpected.

The break has left me feeling refreshed and inspired and has given me the chance to have a look back over old posts, to reflect on what I’ve written and to plan and prepare for 2016.

Back in May I wrote a blog bucket list for 2015 and I managed to achieve pretty much all of it. This year I’m going to dream a little bigger and I am determined to achieve it all. Here are my blog goals for 2016:

1. To attend a blogging conference and meet my blogging friends. Brit Mums Live here I come!

2. To travel with my blog.

3. To start an Instagram hashtag community.

4. To make a regular income from my blog.

5. To get the opportunity to work with some amazing brands that I love.

6. To write and publish an e-book.

7. To create and sell products.

8. To be a brand ambassador again.

9. To be featured on a big website.

10. To start a guest series.

    • January 10, 2016 / 7:34 am

Thank you so much. I am incredibly nervous of attending a conference. But I am equally excited. It’ll be my first ever one this year, but I’ve heard everyone is super friendly. I am a bit of an introvert so may need a glass of prosecco haha x

  8. January 8, 2016 / 12:22 pm

All good realistic goals – Good luck to you with achieving them this year. I have also added for my blog to post the odd ad-hoc post for this year too, the sort that you really enjoy writing and is completely for you. Happy New Year x

  11. January 8, 2016 / 10:51 pm

Great goals – I have been blogging for almost 2 years and am absolutely bowled over by what we have done and where we have been. You are right though – It is hard work, I work more hours than if I was in a full time job! Kaz x

    • January 10, 2016 / 7:51 am

It’s hard work, but it’s oh so worth it isn’t it. There’s such a nice community around it, it’s definitely something I’d love to turn into a career. x

  12. January 9, 2016 / 4:37 am

Great blog goals. I am sure you’ll achieve them. My biggest goal was to be featured on the Huffington Post which happened on the 1st Jan! Yay!

    • January 14, 2016 / 9:32 pm

Yes do! I’d love to meet some more people there. It looks like so much fun. I was new to blogging when it was on last year and everyones posts about it looked amazing. x

  15. January 10, 2016 / 11:14 pm

My blog goals are similar to yours. My content needs to be improved as well I think. I don’t have much to write about lately.

    • January 14, 2016 / 9:33 pm

I hope you manage to achieve them! I find going on pinterest really inspirational for posts!! And reading things like magazines and seeing what articles resonate with me as well as challenges that I’m facing as a mummy, I tend to turn them all into posts. xx

  18. February 26, 2016 / 11:16 pm

You’ve inspired me to nail down my goals in writing. My biggest challenge as a blogger is lack of organization – I’m so impatient I just want to crack on instead of making a proper plan. My bad. And the other is lack of time between my little man, working from home for my day job full time and living abroad. Anyhow we all have challenges and the test is to be smart and overcome them hey. Perhaps my biggest goal is to be able to turn my blog into more than a hobby and have the freedom to leave my day job. Excited to have found your site. We lived in London for a few years and the U.K. always feels very much like a home away from home 🙂
