This week has been very peculiar. It’s been so up and down I do feel like I’m on a bit of a rollercoaster. I’ve had my fair share of giggles this week and also an equal amount of tears. I can’t quite put my finger on if its been a good or a bad week.
A few things threw us off course this week. The first was meeting with a mortgage advisor who told us that regardless of our income as a self-employed couple, because Aitan has just left his job and started his own company, there is no chance we can get a mortgage for at least a year. It was so gutting to hear. He told us that we could both get full time employed jobs and that we’d be accepted for a mortgage straight away, but Aitan’s business is new and has been thriving for four months now. Taking time out of it would be so detrimental. The annoying thing is, we are earning enough, they just want to see longer records to prove it.
We’re trying to see it as a positive though, it means that we can save even more money for an even greater deposit and maybe even a higher mortgage. Having to wait at least another year though is so gutting though, especially as we’ve found our dream first house.
Despite the sad news about the house, some really lovely things have happened this week. Mostly in terms of my work. I am so excited about the direction my blog is going in at the moment and I’m crazily excited about some of my upcoming brand collaborations. This job is so surreal sometimes, especially when you get to work with brands that you absolutely adore and would never even dream getting the opportunity to work with. Watch this space!
BLOGOSPHERE, RIVERDALE AND STYLISH NEW SPECS #LittleLoves
Aside from a rollercoaster week (there are a few more up and downs, but I don’t want to bore you with the details), there has still been lots of things that I’ve been loving this week. Here are a few of my #LittleLoves from the week:
Blogosphere – The new issue of Blogosphere magazine has landed. I recently wrote about Blogosphere magazine in another #LittleLoves post. I had very mixed reviews about this magazine. I subscribed to it a couple of months ago, but found that even though I enjoyed it, it felt a little bit too ‘interviewy’ and had the potential to be so much better.
I have to say though, I’m really enjoying this issue. Especially with Cassey Neistat as the cover star of the issue! I’ve watched his YouTube videos for a long time and he is an absolute inspiration.
His interview is not only eye-opening about the influencer industry, but the way he looks at everything in incredible. He certainly deserves to be exactly where he is in life and his 6000+ word interview, certainly left an impression. Other than the cover star interview, I’m really enjoying slowly making my way through this issue. I loved the article about if ‘brand ambassador schemes’ and if they’re really worth it and I’m about to read the interview with Mother Pukka, someone who I completely admire and whose Instagram stories always make a great watch!
Riverdale – I got hooked on the first season of Riverdale last year, when it was released in bulk on Netflix. If you haven’t seen it yet, I really recommend at least giving the first episode a watch. It comes across as a ‘teen’ drama, but it’s based on the ‘Archie Comic’ books. It has a really dark side to it, so even though you have the typically footballer and all the other high school dynamics that come with it, it is completely different in every single way. Think ‘Pretty Little Liars’ but less squealy, more witty, a lot darker, a lot funnier and more gripping.
Evie Singing – Evie absolutely cracks me up sometimes. She’s so funny. This week she has taken to belting out Frozen’s ‘Let It Go’ at any given opportunity. You’d think it would be really sweet, especially as she DOESN’T STOP SINGING, but she sings so out of tune, its both hilarious and excruciating to hear at the same time.
It did help me find her this week though. She wasn’t in her room when I looked and then I followed her voice and she was in the bathroom just singing to herself. I think I might ask Santa to give her singing lessons for Christmas, more for our sakes than hers.
Other than Evie’s singing. I’ve been listening to a lot of Monsters and Men this week. Particularly the album ‘My Head Is An Animal’. I’m actually writing a story at the moment that I’m hoping one day will be a book. It’s a fantasy/fiction story about a world where the elements are out of balance. I always have a play list on in the background when I’m writing and I usually choose one that gives me inspiration. I really adore this album because it lyrics draw a lot on nature and animals.
I have to admit that I have been a bit rubbish on the ‘making’ part this week. Life has been a little hectic with Christmas coming up. But I have made my….
2018 Plan Of Action – Does that count? There are so many things that have been a very long time in the works for me in regards to this blog and the next direction I want it to go in. Next year I’m planning on launching an online store that sells toys and homewares. I’m hoping that I can sell predominantly products made by mums because this is something I’m really passionate about and is something Life Unexpected has always strived to support.
I’ve had to start pulling together a business plan this week and hopefully very soon, I can set my 2018 plan of action into motion! I’m still a bit overwhelmed with the whole set up process, if anyone has any posts or tips then I’d love to talk to you!
New Specs – I have know for a long, long time that I’ve needed glasses. Unfortunately I let a very deep frown line move into my forehead before I realised it was time to actually go and get my eyes tested.
I was going to go all out and get a designer pair but while I was trying on some basic pairs for shapes that suit my face, I fell in love with these boots own glasses. They actually really suit me and finding glasses that suit me (especially sunglasses) is like finding a needle in a haystack. I really don’t understand what fits with my face shape.
Curious Little Explorers – I always love to include a round up from my Instagram hashtag #CuriousLittleExplorers hashtag on Instagram . I’ve been really loving everyones wintery looking photos this week and its so lovely seeing people still out exploring even when its bitterly cold and, in some cases, snowy out. Here are a few of my favourites from this week:
If you have any outdoor family pictures, I’d love for you to join in on Instagram sometime!
