This week we’ve had the opportunity to try out a some new lights for Evie’s room from a company called ‘Cable and Cotton’. Cable and Cotton are also kindly giving us a set of cotton lights to giveaway to one of you lucky readers. You can enter the giveaway at the end of this post. But first, we’re going to tell you all about why we love these lights so much.
Recently we’ve been updating Evie’s toddler bedroom again. She is getting to the age where she really wants to have her say and all she has been asking for, is for her room to be completely purple and pink. Her room is pretty much finished now, although we have kept the walls white (in case she changes her mind again soon).
But, we’ve updated the bedding and curtains so that they’re purple and most of her toys and accessories are now pink. We’re just hunting around for a few final accessories like lights and photo frames, just to make the room complete.
I mentioned before, in my post ’10 Tips and Tricks To Get Your Child To Sleep’, that Evie cannot sleep without a nightlight. What I didn’t mention was that for the last few years we’ve been using battery powered night lights.
You can only imagine how much money we have spent replacing batteries in a night light that is on every night of the week.
We’ve been searching for the last few weeks for new lights for Evie’s bedroom, to replace her regular night light and to match her new theme. Finding colours to match has been near on impossible. Plus, I’ve been really fussy and I’ve fallen completely in love with cotton ball string lights. But, so far we’ve only been able to find battery powered ones in ‘almost’ matching colours’.
So, when Cable and Cotton got in touch, not only was I very excited to find lights that would match Evie’s room perfectly, but I was even more excited to see that they are plugin lights and that they come with a USB plug.
Cable And Cotton Lights
On the Cable and Cotton website you can chose between pre-selected colour sets or you can choose your own colours and customise the lights so that they match your room exactly. Although we loved the pre-set colour options, they didn’t quite match Evie’s colour scheme, so we opted for the ‘choose’ your own.
The process of choosing your own is so simple. There are over 50 colours to choose from and you can choose as many colours or whatever colour combination you like. As you select each colour option, there is a little widget that shows you what your chosen colours will look like together.
As you go through the process, you can also add or take away colours really easily if they don’t match. While you’re choosing your colours you can also choose between three sizes of string lights; small, medium and large. Small gives you 20 LED lights, medium 35 and large 50 LEDs.
We knew we’d be hanging the lights around Evie’s bookshelves, which are quite small, so we opted for the 20 LED lights and they’re the perfect size for what we wanted. The colours we chose were lilac, soft pink, dusty rose and white.
After we sent off our order, our lights arrived really quickly. Literally in a couple of days. They came in a safe and secure box and we had to assemble them ourselves. This was so easy to do and it only took a few minutes to attach the cotton balls to the string lights. I actually love that you have to assemble them yourselves, as this means you get the option to arrange the colours however you like. After we’d put the lights together, we hung them up.
We Love Our New Cable And Cotton Lights!
The different colour shades look so pretty in Evie’s room and they hang so nicely on her bookshelf. Not only that, but Evie has been sleeping so much better since we’ve had them too.
They give off such a lovely light, but it’s not a bright white light like her old night light. When the lights are switched on, it gives off such a warm glow. Her room feels much cosier and a lot more relaxing at night time now.
We also love these lights so much that we’re going to get some for our bedroom too. We’re in the middle of making it over at the moment and have our eye on a grey/green/white set that would fit so perfectly with what we’re doing.
Cable and Cotton also do lamps and ‘giant’ lights too. The giant lights go on the ceiling and they’re basically giant cotton balls that match the little cable and cotton string lights they sell. We really want to get the matching ‘giant’ lights to go on the ceiling in both ours and Evie’s room. We’d love lilac for hers and grey for ours.
Definitely keep your eyes on our Instagram page to see updates to our bedroom as we finish it off.
If you love these lights as much as us, they are available online from the Cable and Cotton website. The ones we have are priced at £29.95 and for something so re-usable, I think it’s well worth the price.
