A few weeks ago Evie and I sat down, armed with a giant piece of paper and Evie’s crayons, ready for a very special project. We had been challenged by Petplan’s Pet Insurance, to create our dream pet.
We could put our artistic skills to the test and get as creative as we wanted. The challenge was accepted and we tried to make our pet as weird and wonderful as we liked. After our pet was complete, we were told to send a copy of our drawing to Petplan. This was so that they could magically transform it into an amazing soft toy, for Evie to keep and treasure forever.
At the time of drawing, Evie had a complete obsession with three animals; reindeers, birds and bunnies. So in true creative style, we merged all three together. Evie asked for reindeer antlers as ears. She then asked for a bunny style cotton tail, wings instead of arms and an owl like face. When we got to choosing which colour to make it, she asked for ‘all of them’.
When our drawing was complete, I honestly didn’t think that Petplan could recreate it. It was very colourful and there were different shaped limbs at every angle.
When our new pet arrived we were so impressed! Evie fell instantly in love. Petplan had recreated our drawing perfectly. From the skew bunny tail to the badly drawn antlers and the multi-coloured eyes.
I asked Evie the name of her new pet and she’s decided to call it ‘Windybun’. Since its arrival, she has been looking after it non-stop. It has gone everywhere with her.
One thing Evie is very good at, is caring for her toys. The Windybun has already taken a trip to ‘Evie’s Vets’. It has also been given its own bed, Evie’s dolls cot, and every morning Evie feeds it food from her play kitchen.
Treasured forever? I definitely think so. There is definitely something so magical about getting to play with, and look after, a pet that you created.
Looking After Our New Bunnies
Alongside caring for her toys, Evie is also amazing at caring for her pets. A few months ago we got two new, beautiful little bunnies. Evie absolutely adores them. She helps to feed them every morning, rain or shine. Twice a week she helps us to clean them out and everyday she gives them cuddles and lets them out for a run.
After sadly losing our cat this year, we know all too well how important it is for your pet to be loved and looked after. We also know how unpredictable and sometimes just how expensive vet bills can be. The one thing we are doing this time around is making sure that we have pet insurance.
We did some research into Petplan to look at what the insurance would be like for our rabbits. For a company who put so much love and perfection into creating Evie’s dream pet, we weren’t surprised to see that they put the same amount of attention into their insurance plans.
Petplan have been around since 1976. They are one of only a few pet insurance providers to offer genuine ‘lifetime’ policies and they also have a 12 month policy designed to suit all needs. We were equally pleased to find out that they offer pet specific insurance. This means you can get insurance that has been designed just for your animal; be it a dog, cat, rabbit, horse, or any other exotic animal.
Another incredible thing that makes Petplan stand out for me, is their focus on charity work. They work with more animal rehoming charities than any other pet insurance provider and have supported more than 1200 charities throughout the UK. So far they have raised more than £7 million towards a better and healthier world for animals. How lovely are they?
If you have a ‘real’ pet, it’s definitely worth taking a peek at what they offer. We will definitely be using them for our rabbits. Unfortunately the WindyBun will just have to settle for using ‘Evie’s Vet Practice’ for now. But, i’m sure he’ll live a long and happy life.
Thank you Petplan for our very unique looking toy. I’d love to say gorgeous, but I think weird and wonderful suits the description of Evie’s ‘WindyBun’ a lot better. Just like our bunnies, it’s going to be truly loved and treasured.
What do you think of Evie’s WindyBun? Have you got any pets? Let me know in the comments below.
