If you live in Cornwall or if you are a regular visitor to Cornwall, have you experienced the Dip & Dine at Una St. Ives yet?
If you haven’t heard of Una before, it’s an eco resort that sits just outside of St.Ives, in Carbis Bay. The resort is open to both residents and non-residents and onsite there is a restaurant, a spa, a gym and a pool.
We popped over to Una for the first time this week to try out one of their Dip & Dine sessions, and we absolutely loved it! Our visit also happened to be Lior’s very first swim in a pool and it was honestly, such a lovely experience.
What is the Dip & Dine at Una Resort?
The Dip & Dine at Una St.Ives is on every Thursday and Sunday. A session includes a dip in the pool, plus use of all the spa facilities, followed by lunch or dinner in the Una Kitchen afterwards.
The menu in the kitchen varies dependant on when you come. If you come on Thursday lunch, you get access to a full lunch menu. On Thursday evenings you can try some tapas and on Sundays you have the option of a roast!
Una is only a ten minute drive away from our house and I have no idea why we haven’t been before! The resort is honestly beautiful. We arrived for our Dip & Dine on a very mizzly Thursday in June, expecting the pool to be so busy because of the rain, but we were pleasantly surprised.
We were greeted at reception (the staff there are so friendly) and shown to a family changing room. Then we made our way out to the pool which is so large and spacious. There were a few people there, including another family, but honestly, because of the size it felt like we had the place to ourselves.
The pool itself is 15 metres long and it overlooks a little wild garden area. The garden is so beautiful and the big windows make the pool feel really light and bright, even on the dullest of days!
Aitan was happy to discover that they had a sauna and a steam room and I definitely took advantage of the jacuzzi.
We started Lior’s swim in the little children’s splash pool and he absolutely loved being in the water. It wasn’t long before we took him for a swim in the big pool and he honestly stayed on his back, doing lengths for nearly an hour, completely fuss free.
The pools were a teeny bit on the cold side, but I actually found this really refreshing and Lior didn’t get cold at all. Just don’t climb back in the pool after being in the warm hot tub because then you really feel it!
We found the pool area so relaxing, the complete opposite to what you get if you go to a regualar ‘family’ public pool. It was perfect for a quiet, first swim.
We noticed that the resort also has an onsite spa, so you could even throw in a little treatment to spoil yourself if you wanted to.
After our swim we popped into the Una Kitchen for lunch. All I can say is wow! The restaurant decor, the food, the atmosphere…it was all so lovely.
The restaurant is very family friendly. There is even a little corner where kids can sit and play and the restaurant is so comfortable to sit in. So much so, Lior fell asleep within seconds of us sitting down. Luckily for us, he slept the whole time we ate.
On a sunny day you also have the option to sit outside. We noticed a fire pit in the garden and the garden itself is so beautifully done, we even saw wild rabbits running around just outside of the window.
Everything about our lunch was just perfect. The staff were really friendly, the options on the menu were wonderful and we also loved that they stocked mostly fresh, locally sourced produce!
It was so hard to choose a dish to eat, they all sounded delicious. To start with we went for the tomato and basil arancini and also a chicken, asparagus and pistachio terrine.
These dishes were both incredibly tasty. I especially loved the terrine. The cauliflower element and the flavours of terrine itself were so good.
For mains, Aitan had the beef ragu and I had the wood fired sea bream with a lemon and pea risotto. Again, both were super delicious and the portion sizes were very generous.
When it came to desserts we were so full we couldn’t even bring ourselves to look at the menu, but we have both agreed that this will definitely not be our last visit to Una. We have found our new favourite spot.
We’ll Be Back…
We are so happy that we’ve discovered Una. We’ll definitely be popping back again and again and I think I’ve found my new spot for coffee and cake (or prosecco and pizza) sessions with my girls, as well as a place for family treats.
Thank you so much for hosting us Una!
