Things I’m not digging at the moment: the rain.
Things I am digging at the moment: the cooler days and the chance to wrap up in warm fluffy scarves and cosy knitted jumpers.
I love Autumn! It’s one of my favourite seasons when it comes to buying clothes. Ok that’s a lie. I love every season because it means I get to buy clothes. But, chunky jumpers and beautiful boots are a few of the things I love most about this season.
The start of the season means its time for a mini shopping spree. My summer clothes are away and I’ve scoured the internet for my favourite pieces that will be making their way to my wardrobe this week. To stop myself from spending too much money, I do tend to invest in the ‘wardrobe staples’ first and then if I have surplus pennies, I build my wardrobe around them.
I really wanted to share my wardrobe staples and what I’m buying this year. So, if you need to get ready for the season too, check them out below.
Get Cosy For Autumn With These 5 Wardrobe Staples
It’s not Autumn without investing in some cosy knitwear. I have to admit that I always buy far too many jumpers. I love, love, love cosy knits and they go so well over a pair of skinny jeans and some ankle boots. I’ve fallen a little bit in love with this gorgeous bardot knit from New Look and this wide sleeve black jumper from Topshop. These two have already ended up in my house and have been keeping me snug daily for the last few weeks.
- New Look – White Twist Yarn Bardot Neck Jumper: £22.99
- Topshop – Moss Stitch Wide Sleeve Jumper: £36
The second must have on my Autumn shopping list is a pair of boots. Whether you like knee high, ankle, heeled or biker, boots are an autumn essential. My favourites? These boots by Steve Madden. I am obsessed with Steve Madden. I would buy so many of his boots, given the chance. Either of these would look so perfect teamed with a pair of skinny jeans and a casual top.
- Lyst – Steve Madden Troopa 2.0 Leather Ankle Boots: £110
- Lyst – Steve Madden Jayden Leather Ankle Boots: £110
A coat is an obvious staple for Autumn. You can’t get cosy without a chunky coat. Especially if you live in the UK. It can get icy cold and lets not even get started with the rain. I always find it so difficult to find a coat I love though. Plus, it has to go so well with most of your outfits, because lets be honest, you need your coat 90% of the time if you’re living in the UK.
I’ve actually shocked myself by finding not one but two coats that I really want this year. I adore the light coloured duffle coat from Topshop. It looks so snug and the colour will go with most outfits. I am also seriously in love with this aviator jacket from Missguided. I love the fur around the bottom and the sleeves and think it would look amazing both dressed up or down.
- Topshop – Holly Faux Fur Hooded Coat: £65
- Missguided – Faux Fur Lined Aviator Jacket: £60
A Good Pair Of Jeans
The right pair of jeans can take you from day to night, from casual to party. I always struggle to find a great pair of jeans that suit me, but when I do I always make sure to get several colours in the same style. That’s a great tip I learnt from fashion icon and ex spice girl Victoria Beckham. This way I’ve got enough jeans to go with all my blouses and tops and I know they look great. Topshop is my go to for jeans. Joni jeans are a staple in my wardrobe, but lately I’ve also been loving ASOS ‘Weekday’ jeans.
- Asos – Weekday Super High Waist Body Jean: £30
Hats and Scarves
The last and best way to get cosy for autumn? Chunky scarves and knitted hats. I usually get several styles for different occasions and weathers. I tend to buy big thick knitted scarves and fluffy hats for icy cold days. Then I get stylish berets and thin snoods for warm, mild days. Accessorize is normally my go to for hats and scarves. I especially love that they normally do the same styles in loads of colours so you can pick up several to match all your outfits.
- Accessorize – Two Toned Brush Scarf: £17
- Accessorize – Ribbed Flecked Pom Beanie Hat: £17
