Our family bathroom has FINALLY had a much needed makeover. It’s been about 15 years and the builder that did it before did a bit of a bodge job.
Now it’s been turned into a relaxation heaven and I think I’ve spent more time in it in the last few weeks than ever before. To say we are now all fighting over the bathroom is an understatement. But, I have a feeling you are going to see why.
Grey Boutique Bathroom
How beautiful is this? We are all so in love with it and I don’t think it would look out of place in a boutique hotel. Before, we had a really cheap looking pine coloured cupboard that ran right along the wall, with the sink and toilet integrated.
But now, everything is ‘stand alone’ and we’ve replaced the old rundown cupboards with a sleek white drawer unit. It has so much storage space inside. The drawers are slow close and even have little sections inside, so you can keep all of your products organised. There is even a little spot for your toothbrushes!
The toilet also has a slow close lid and it’s surprising how much bigger the bathroom now feels, with everything being separate rather than integrated.
We finished the bathroom with chrome based accessories, to stay in keeping with the ‘luxury’ look we were going for. The accessories includes the toilet roll holder, a little bin and the extra long, heated towel rail.
One of my favourite features, has to be the mirror above the sink. It’s a ‘touch’ light mirror and the difference it makes when you’re applying make-up, is incredible. It illuminates every pore and every blemish.
As you can see in the mirror, the only part of the bathroom that still needs finishing is the door frame. But other than that, we are all so chuffed with how it has turned out.
I think that grey tiles are so gorgeous and make the bathroom look really sophisticated. Before, we had light beige tiles and they ended up looking really shabby quite quickly. Going from a light coloured bathroom to dark grey was quite overwhelming though.
To break up the colour and to tie it in with the lighter grey floor tiles, this strip of mini mosaic tiles was put across two walls of the bathroom.
Initially the tiles behind the bath were supposed to be one big plain grey sheet, without the grouting. I still think that might have looked better, but it still looks stunning all the same.
Bath & Shower
I am so in love with the new bath. It is a lot wider than our old bath used to be and the new shower door is split in the middle, which makes such a difference to the amount of water residue that ends up on the floor.
You can only imagine the amount of baths that we’ve all had since this new bath was installed. The ledges at each end are just wide enough to hold tea light candles and with the new light touch mirror, you can enjoy a bath without the main light on. It is so relaxing!
We are now completely spoilt, with two showers instead of one. I can’t believe we survived with our old shower for so long. It was supposed to be a power shower, but it was so piddly!
The shower used to be one of those electric showers with the small removable shower head. It literally just dripped water, rather than showering you. Now we actually have a gorgeous rainfall shower that you can easily adjust the pressure of. Alongside that we also have a power shower that we can take off the wall, which is so handy.
Just before Christmas, I wrote about our new love for ‘Grace Cole’ products. We are all a little bit Grace Cole obsessed now and my whole family constantly smell like white nectarine and pear.
This boutique collection looks so luxurious against the backdrop of our new bathroom and they smell absolutely delicious. We couldn’t help getting them, as a finishing touch to the bathroom.
Now, we all feel like we’re going to a spa every time we set foot inside our new bathroom. The difference it makes to your mind frame is unreal. Just one little visit, or soak in the bath, leaves us all feeling really rejuvenated.
A company called ‘The Towel Shop‘ kindly sent us some gorgeous new towels to go in our bathroom. The Towel Shop stock only quality towels that are luxuriously soft and kind to your skin. The towels we were sent are a new style towel that are made from Bamboo. Yes, really. Bamboo. So not only are they gorgeous and super soft but they have some incredible features.
Bamboo is one of the most versatile plants. It’s super absorbent, eco friendly, anti-bacterial, bio-degradable, uv protected and really kind to sensitive skin. Bamboo is also sustainable as it grows really fast, so it’s the perfect plant to make towels.
The towels we were sent are so soft and so far have proven to be more absorbent than cotton towels. They feel really lightweight, and the colour looks so lovely against the grey walls.
The Bamboo Collection, comes in a range of stylish colours; silver, charcoal, white and my ultimate favourite and our choice of towel colour; the kingfisher blue. I love that it adds a slight pop of colour to the room, without distracting too much from the highlight that is the bathroom. What do you think?
