The days are colder, the onsies are on and the mulled wine is brewing. It’s starting to look a lot like #Netflixmas!
In the summer months you will rarely find me indoors, but on these colder, chillier days, all I want to do is snuggle up in front of the fire with blankets, a lemon tea and some Netflix shows.
This month has been all about Netflix for us. We’ve been to an amazing Netflix party, got Christmassy with some Netflix treats and tucked into some of our favourite Netflix Christmas shows. Find out more about what we’ve been up to below and what we’ve been watching!
Netflix Challenge & Treats
This week Netflix sent us some little Christmas goodies to get us ready for the big day. We were given a mission to paint our favourite Netflix characters on some plain wooden baubles, and then hang them on our Christmas tree.
It’s the first Christmas that our daughter has been old enough to be aware of and I’m really enjoying doing these little Christmassy things with her. We really loved getting messy and painting our baubles. In true toddler fashion Evie wanted me to create Peppa Pig. I tried my best but I am by no means an artist. She apparently drew George and Rebecca Rabbit. I’ll let you decide if you can see them in her baubles!
Pictures will be up soon!
It started to look a lot like #Netflixmas at the start of this month when we excitingly attended the Netflix Christmas party in London. We were so grateful to be invited and it was an absolutely amazing night!
The Netflix crew created sets that you’ll recognise from some of your favourite shows; Narcos, The Crown and Stranger Things.
To make it even more fun, you could go on each set and take part in ‘role play’ games with the actors who really made you feel like you were stepping into a different world.
On top of that again, we could make little videos, create our own Netflix wrapping paper and visit a living room with some fun characters who lived close to the ‘Home Alone’ characters and had lots of gossip about them.
The party was the perfect excuse to dress up, drink cocktails, mingle with some amazing bloggers and media folk and get excited about our favourite Netflix shows.
Netflix Christmas Shows
This week I indulged in way too many Christmas films. Netflix have some great different choices this year. Here are a few of our favourites that we’ve watched this week:
- Home Alone
- Arthur Christmas – with my family for the first time. To my shock, it’s based in Cornwall, where we live, which I never knew!
- Beethoven’s Christmas Adventure
- Outnumbered Christmas Special
- The Crown (not Christmassy but I love it!)
Evie loved Arthur Christmas so much! It’s the first full length film she has ever sat through and made her excited about Santa coming all the more.
How Do You Use Your Netflix?
Netflix also got in touch with us to tell us all about their latest discovery of a new viewing trend. They’ve noticed a pattern where members take a short break between bingeing on a TV series. During that break they tend to watch a film, usually of a similar genre to keep that binge feeling alive.
An interesting pairing shows fans of The Crown wanting to see the same quality in films, so they tend to opt for big blockbusters. Whereas fans of Black Mirror wanted to dive deeper into the dark side of the internet and watch films of the same unique genre.
From everybody here at Life Unexpected, we wish you a very happy #Netflixmas!
