MAGIC MOMENTSYesterday felt really magical. We had a really rare day together where Jamie was off work & we had nothing planned. No big day out, no chores to catch up on, no pressing appointments.

We decided on a whim to go for a walk along St. Erth river. I can’t believe that we haven’t bought Evie here yet & Jamie has never been before. It’s so close to our house. It’s only a five minute drive away to the next village over.

There were several reasons why this was a precious moment for me. St. Erth is a really small, quaint village close to my house. There’s so much family history laced in this small village.I was born here, as well as one of my sisters. My mum, aunties & uncles grew up here as well as generations of our family before them.

I have some beautiful memories of walks along this river bank as a child. We used to come down here regularly with my mum & she used to reminisce about her own childhood with us. As soon as I set foot on the path yesterday, all of the familiar smells & sounds took me right back to when I was young.

It was really magical to see another generation walk here. We felt really lucky to come on such a beautiful, peaceful afternoon. Evie loved picking up big sticks & carting them around. She said hello to every dog that came past with it’s owner & got to give a really friendly one a pat.

Best of all was how peaceful it was. There was no sounds of traffic. No voices. Just the tinkling of the river & the gentle breeze through the trees.

These magic moments away are so fleeting & they really shouldn’t be. We’re always so busy in our everyday lives that we forget to do these ‘ordinary’ things. This was a great reminder that we need to take more time out together & to stop rushing about so much.

Have you taken time out & had any special ordinary moments lately?

So lovely to step back and appreciate some quality family time like this. Well done for parking the chores and grabbing the opportunity to go out and retrace an area with many memories for you. Lovely to be sharing your childhood with your own child. Thank you for sharing with me on Country Kids.

That’s so lovely that you can take her somewhere that not only you played as a child, but your mum and previous generations of the family did too. Sometimes the best days are those that are unplanned. Beautiful photos! 🙂 x
