WHAT MAMA WORE #4 – BARDOT TOPS

WHAT MAMA WORE #4 – BARDOT TOPS

Welcome to ‘What Mama Wore’, a new weekly feature on Life Unexpected where I share with you my style journey and also my mission to become more confident in front of the camera.

What Mama Wore #4

I can’t believe I’ve been doing ‘What Mama Wore‘ for a whole month now. I’m finding that my confidence is growing slightly and I’m able to put myself in front of the camera more. But, I still haven’t worked out my best angles and I have to admit, I’m taking 100’s of pictures just to get a few nice ones.

But, the feedback for this series has been really lovely so far. Especially on Instagram where lots of people have made me feel super confident and have convinced me to keep going with this series.

Outfit Of The Week

This weeks ‘outfit of the week’ has been all about showing a little shoulder. I love playing with different style tops and jumpers and I especially love the ‘off the shoulder’ look.

What Mama Wore

I either buy jumpers and tops in larger sizes, so I can pull them off the shoulder, or I love finding beautiful bardot tops, that can be worn all year around.

Bardot Jumper

This bardot jumper is my absolute favourite jumper this season. It’s so snug and warm. I adore the colour of it and I love the way the yarn is twisted together so you get flecks of black, white and grey.

What Mama Wore

I found this jumper in New Look and it was only £25. The balloon style sleeves are really in right now and the colour and the fit of the jumper is really unique. I bought this jumper in my size, but it does come up slightly baggy. I’ve been wearing it tucked into a pair of high waisted jeans. Or, if I wear regular jeans then I tie a little knot in the front of it, to give it a more stylish look. I find that baggy clothes tend to make my waist look bigger than it is. I always try and combat this by wearing my tops in a way to accentuate the curves of my waist.

What Mama Wore

This jumper was such a good find. The only downside is that it snags very easily, so you do have to be careful with it. But, it goes with so many things and is great for layering over other bardot tops in the Winter.

This jumper is now sold out buy you can buy a similar one here: Off The Shoulder Jumper or here: Yarn Jumper

Bardot Blouse

I have a few bardot blouses that go so well under this jumper. I have to admit, the jumper keeps you VERY warm. I often have to take it off when I go in anywhere. I found out the hard way that I should always wear something underneath. I had one very uncomfortable dinner where I was so hot and couldn’t take my jumper off. Now I aways wear it with a bardot top underneath.

What Mama Wore

I also found this top in New Look. It came in several different colours and I picked up it up in pink and black. I absolutely adore this light pink colour. I find myself in a much better mind frame when I wear pops of colour on dreary, grey Winter days.

This pink bardot top goes so well with a pair of blue or black jeans. I’ve even worn it out for dinner a few times,  teamed with a pair of heeled ankle boots and the black furry aviator jacket I shared in my ‘What Mama Wore 2‘ post. The blouse is really loose fitting around the tummy area. I usually tuck it into high waisted jeans to accentuate my waist. But, it does look really cute just left floating as well.

This top is now sold out but you can buy a similar one here: Pink Bardot Top

Joni Jeans

Both the top and the jumper go so well with my Joni jeans. I’ve mentioned these jeans in a couple of posts before and I also mentioned my love for high waisted jeans and how flattering they are on my figure. Joni Jeans from Topshop just seem to hug in all the right places. If you have big hips, but a small waist then you’ll love them too! I know they’re a firm favourite with lots of people and the great thing is, the do them in a whole range of colours, so you can get great fitting jeans that go with your whole wardrobe. I cannot recommend them enough!

You can find these jeans here: Joni Jeans Mid Stone

Outfit

I try so hard to buy clothes that are versatile and that can be worn again and again in different ways. Both this top and jumper are really casual, but can so easily be dressed up for a night out or a special dinner.

What Mama Wore

I also love that both the jumper and the top will take me right into Spring. They’ll go so well with either a light blue denim or a black suede skirt.

These look so gorge on you Chloe but I always find my shoulders get cold in these unless it’s Summer! Still if you can pull it off I say go for it 🙂

Great pieces, I have been brave enough to wear off the shoulder tops. But they look fantastic on you and love that dusty pink colour on you too
