Have you ever heard of Petit Bateau?

I must admit, I hadn’t. But after looking into them a bit further, it turns out that they’ve been around for over 100 years! 123 to be precise. Not only that, but did you know they’re pretty famous? They not only invented underwear as we know it, but baby bodysuits too!

So who are they?

Petit Bateau are a clothing company that create playful, joyful items, that speak to all generations from 0-924 months.

Petit Bateau was founded in 1893 by Pierre Valton. The company is named, after a famous french nursery rhyme and the clothing company completely pride themselves on the quality of their clothes.

They claim that their:

T-shirts do not twist, the presstud buttons on our baby bodysuits do not move and our famous cotton retains its softness…

You’ll also be happy to know, that their clothes have been made with 50% cotton and 50% love since 1893.

We fell so in love with their products, that we decided to create a little mood board of the items that we’d love to have for Evie’s capsule wardrobe this autumn.

About Petit Bateau

But, Petit Bateau don’t just make clothes for babies. They also also make gorgeous clothes for newborns, older children and adults too!

In fact, 28 million products are made every year. 3.4 million of that being t-shirts and 16 million of that being underwear.

That’s a lot of people wearing Petit Bateau!

When it comes to children’s clothes, Petit Bateau are very clever and careful about the products they make. All of their products are designed to allow the child to live happily in their clothes, with complete freedom of movement.

When it comes to newborn clothes, they make them all with flat seams to prevent chafing on the skin, so that our new cuddly babies get total comfort.

In fact, all of their children’s garments are designed so that our kids feel totally at ease and are free to wriggle and move about as they please.

We love Petit Bateau and will definitely be getting some of their gorgeous clothes for Evie in the future.
