Do you find it really overwhelming to pick a personal Mothers Day gift, that your Mum will adore and that will also say everything you want it to say? I really do!
Every year I say the same thing. I want to go the extra mile and forgo traditional and conventional gifts and instead choose something more thoughtful and unique. But, when it comes to choosing, I can never pinpoint exactly what to get.
This year though, I’m so happy to say, I have already found Mum the perfect gift. It’s wrapped and ready to go and I cannot wait to see her open it.
How Do You See Your Mum?
Without a doubt, one of my favourite places to buy gifts from is John Lewis. They always have a really good range of things to choose from, that are both unique and special. This week John Lewis set me a really lovely challenge. They asked me to pick a personal Mothers Day gift for my Mum, that fits in with who she is as a person.
I did get that initial feeling of dread at having to choose a gift, but I popped over to the online store to pick and they’ve arranged their Mother’s Day gifts into really clever categories, so we can easily look for presents based on how we see our Mums and their unique personality.
I love their options! Some of the options include ‘adventure Mums’, ‘tech-savvy Mums’, ‘fashion forward Mums’ and even ‘on-the-go Grandmas. But, there are a lot more to choose from, so definitely go and take a peek! The one that stood out for me the most was the ‘spa-goer’. So, how do you see your Mum?
I see my Mum as a spa-goer…
This category is my Mum inside and out! My mum is one of these amazing people, that always seems to have it together. She looked perfectly preened and refreshed, yet she is also the busiest person I know.
She’s a teacher, a grandmother, a mother, a wife, a friend. But, the thing I admire the most about her, is that she’s such an advocate for looking after yourself. She has always stressed to me, more so now that I am a Mum, that it’s so important to take time out for you and to relax and to look after yourself.
It was so easy to choose a gift for her from the ‘spa-goer’ collection!
It made such a difference being able to instantly narrow the search down to a specific personality. Even though there is still a wide range of things to choose from in each category, there isn’t too much that it’s overwhelming to shop.
My Mum is the pamper queen and her favourite treat would be a spa day. She loves getting her nails done on the weekend and every week or so, she indulges in a treatment like reflexology.
I knew straight away that I wanted to combine a few of her favourite pampering treats and put them into a hamper, so she could create a ‘spa night’ in at home.
As well as a relaxing and luxuriously scented candle, I chose Mum a face treatment oil to help her skin feel refreshed after a busy day and also a beautiful hand care kit, to help her feel ultimately pampered.
Sara Miller Scented Candle
The first thing I picked was this candle by Sara Miller. The design drawn onto the glass is so beautiful. I don’t think any pamper gift is complete without a candle and these smells delicious too!
My Mum is candle and incense mad. Her house always smells incredible, so I knew this would be perfect. I chose the warm, spicy scent of Amber, Orchid and Lotus Blossom. It smells deep, rich and relaxing. My Mum is going to absolutely love it.

Clarins Face Treatment Oil
The second thing I chose was this ‘Clarins Face Treatment Oil’. How tricky is it choosing skincare products for someone else? I even find it overwhelming buying skincare products for myself. But, I have heard so many amazing things about this Clarins Face Treatment Oil and I knew that it would give her skin such a refreshing boost, at the end of a busy day. I think this product is such a good failsafe if you’re buying a skincare gift for someone and you don’t know what they’ll like.
It’s a natural based product that can be used on occasion as a skincare treat, or as part of an everyday skincare routine. My Mum loves natural based products like this and when you apply it to your skin, the droplets get really warm, so you actually feel like you’re having a treatment in the spa.

Morris & Co Hand Hand Care Treats
Lastly, I picked out something that would give her hands a bit of pampering. When I was little I used to love watching my Mum do her nails. She’d sit on the sofa and listen to us read at bed time and on occasions, she’d be there preening her cuticles, painting her nails and putting on hand creams.
I remember that her hands were always so soft and I used to dream of being a grown up, so I could paint my nails like hers and make them super soft with luxurious creams.
One of my Mums favourite little treats, is going to the nail salon and having her nails done. But, I’ve noticed she has stopped using creams. The Winter air is making her hands really dry, so I can’t wait to give her this gift and to share with her my childhood memories and why I chose it. There are a few hand creams to choose from on John Lewis, but I’ve personally used Morris & Co creams before. They’re so gentle on the skin and they smell absolutely delicious.

I love Mothers Day. It’s the perfect time to say thank you to Mum and it’s so nice getting to spoil her with gifts that I know she’ll love.
I’m really, really chuffed with my gift and the things I’ve picked out. It’s thoughtful, it’s personal and I hope that it will be the perfect treat for Mum. I also love how easy it was to find something for her this year. The different sections on John Lewis have made it so much less stressful to choose a gift. If you haven’t been over to their website yet, you can view their categories here: John Lewis Mothers Day.
Oh and to my beautiful fiancee, who will be proof reading this post at some point and needs to find me a gift on behalf of my toddler, I love anything in the ‘Adventure Pro’ category!
So, what gift are you getting for your Mum this Mothers Day and which category does her personality fall into?
Is your Mum a spa goer too? Is she a foodie? Of fashion forward? Or maybe or a multi-tasking new Mum. Let me know in the comments below!
*John Lewis sent me gifts in exchange for this post. All opinions are honest and my own.
