A couple of weeks ago I started this ‘bump watch’ series, following the news of our miracle pregnancy! In my last pregnancy I didn’t take any photos of my bump and sadly there is only one photo in existence of me ever being pregnant with Evie. Even more annoying, its a front on, blurry iphone picture. I didn’t want the same thing to happen with this pregnancy and I really wanted to watch my bump grow. So, this fortnightly series was born and will run until our due date in February.

If anyone else is pregnant, let me know below how far you are along. I’d love to follow your journey too!
This week baby is the size of…a banana!
How I’m Feeling
We had a huge scare at the end of last week which I’m so glad is finally over. I went to the Doctors because I was convinced I had a water infection. I’d spent the whole day curled over experiencing really severe cramps that felt like period pains. I was constantly needing the bathroom and it also seemed like I was leaking a bit of fluid, which was really strange.
I managed to get a ‘very late in the day’ Doctors appointment. Only the very lovely Doctor sent us away telling me it wasn’t a water infection and gave us the indication that my symptoms seemed similar to early signs of miscarriage. He basically said that we’d have to wait and see what symptoms developed over the weekend. Obviously we left feeling very upset.
A couple of hours later, we ended up popping up to our local hospital to speak to the midwives there and to get a second opinion. I almost didn’t go because I didn’t want to be a nuisance, but I was in so much discomfort still and feeling very distraught from how the Doctor had left us.
They were amazing and were so shocked that the Doctor hadn’t even checked on baby at all, or run other tests. They then tested me for everything. I was checked for things like thrush (which can cause symptoms like leakage and cramps), for a water infection again and they also checked that I hadn’t lost the mucus plug.
They reassured us that baby was ok by letting us listen to its heartbeat and then they also ended up doing a scan, to make sure that I wasn’t leaking fluid from the placenta. Thankfully baby was perfectly healthy and fine and wriggling away happily. But, they did find that I had not one but two infections. Luckily it wasn’t anything that a bought of anti-biotics wouldn’t help with!
They also told me it was so good that I came. The infections could have got worse over the weekend and could have the affected baby. I am usually not one to go for a second opinion. I always feel really silly and embarrassed. But, this experience did teach my, that it’s always better to be safe than sorry when you are pregnant and to double check an opinion if you don’t feel like the first was right!
I feel so good in this trimester. Half the time I barely remember I am pregnant. I have so much energy! This is worlds apart from the awful fatigue of the first trimester.
My body hasn’t changed that much at all since my last update. I’m not growing a bump very quickly and I am starting to wonder if I’ll even have a big bump? But, my taste palette has definitely changed. All I want to eat is spice! I’m covering everything in spicy sauce and its still not enough. Apparently baby really loves hot food! It’s funny, I’ve never been that much of a fan until now.
We’re also feeling so many kicks now. They’re pretty much coming at the same time everyday and baby definitely has a sleeping pattern and very strong little legs. I don’t have much water again, just like with Evie, so we can already see baby wriggling under my tummy which I still find so strange!
Gender reveal…the Doctors did give us a ‘sneak hint’ at the gender at the end of last week, so we will be doing a gender reveal very soon. We are just going to wait for our 20 week scan though, to double confirm, before we do a big reveal. Keep your eyes peeled for that this week!
