I’m 26 weeks pregnant and oh boy do I feel so unprepared this week! How am I almost in the third trimester? I have 13 weeks left to prepare for baby. I know that sounds like a lot but with Christmas in between, buying a house and Aitan buying a cafe, I don’t feel like we have that much of a window.

It’s probably time to start shopping for baby things in the next fortnight. Is it really bad that we haven’t even got a single thing yet?

I’ve written down a list of all the ‘essentials’ we need this week because I wanted to start preparing and its actually scary how much we need to get. I think so far I’ve been semi-winging it and thinking that we don’t need that much stuff but after writing the list, I’m a little bit scared. I raided the attic this week to see what I’d kept after I had Evie and apparently it’s next to nothing. We’re literally having to start again from scratch. Uh oh!

The two things we really want to get as soon as possible, are the two biggies; a bedside crib and a car seat. If anyone has a recommendation of a good ‘drop side’ crib – the ones that attach to the bed – then please let me know below!

This week baby is the size of a iceberg lettuce!

How I’m Feeling

Apart from feeling very unprepared, I am feeling so full of energy still at the moment. I am loving getting up early and I don’t need to rest at all until bed. I’m really making the most of all of this energy and I’m completely throwing myself into work before baby comes. I’ve actually been trying to find out more about maternity leave this week. I’m self-employed and it seems to be a complete minefield.

No one seems to know much about taking maternity when you are a blogger and a freelancer – especially when it comes to what’s classed as ‘working’ for keeping in touch days. I’m going to try and put a post together this week to help others who are also finding this hard to navigate. But, if you have any information or experience with this yourself, please do get in touch!

I also had a midwife appointment this week. I had the flu jab, an anti-d injection (ouch those hurt that’s for sure) and some bloods taken. Apparently I’m a little bit love in vitamin B-12 which explains a lot about me feeling ‘washed’ out and lightheaded in the last few weeks. I’ve had to up my supplements for the time being to try and even this out. They are working a dream already!

Pregnancy: 26 Weeks Bump Watch

Body Changes

I am slowly getting bigger but it all seems to be mostly in my face. Where has that second chin come from? I honestly hate my face right now and wish it was all in my tummy. My tummy did bloom a little bit a couple of weeks ago, so I do I finally have a noticeable little bump.

I’ve just had to do a mini online order of maternity clothes (mostly from ASOS and Boohoo) this week because I’ve literally been living in one dress and a pair of jeans for the last fortnight. I’ve been fully in denial about the fact that I won’t be able to make my regular wardrobe last until baby comes. I tried my best, but absolutely nothing fits me anymore. Oh dear! I’ll share some of the things I’ve picked up in my next post.

Also, hopefully by my next update I might be more prepared and we would have done some much needed baby shopping!

If anyone else is pregnant, let me know below. I’d love to follow your journey too!

Do you have any recommendations of bedside cribs? When did you start shopping for baby things? Were you prepared early or last minute like me? Let me know below!

What a sweet little bump you have! I have a B12 deficiency it does make you feel absolutely awful. I forget to take my supplements most days which definitely doesn’t help. Keep yours up as it starts to effect your hair and nails. My hair matts into massive knots and my nails flake away!
    Much love, Caitylis x x

I didn’t realise it effects your nails too! That makes so much sense. I was literally saying yesterday to my fiance, at the start of this pregnancy my nails were so long and strong and now they’re so patchy, flaky and basically stubs. I’ll definitely keep it up. xx

Congrats on your pregnancy! Thoroughly enjoyed your post, and I love that you put how big baby is this week (size of a lettuce!). I know a lot of my mummy friends that have been a little stress free when preparing for baby to come, don’t worry too much about it and as you said as long as you have the two main things then everything else will come in time!x

Thank you so much! I’m glad I’m not the only one who isn’t being that organised. 🙂 Hopefully it all comes together in the end.

Aww time is flying by and it’s so exciting! I was also pretty unprepared with Poppy compared to Isabella, but it all falls into place in the end 🙂

It’s going so fast! I really hope it does all fall into place at the end. 🙂

You look fantastic, don’t worry it’ll all come together. I love the look of Snuzpods but I think the Chicco next to me is wider so would last longer?

Thank you so much for the suggestions. I’m off to look at both of them right now. Someone else suggested the Chicco to me today too! x

You look great and you probably don’t need so much as you think…we made the mistake of buying everything for our first, but learnt for our twins!!
