ST. MAWES RETREATS

ST. MAWES RETREATS

.‘Paradise Found’ reads the plaque above the door as you step into the living areas in Moonrakers, a stunning holiday home in St. Mawes Cornwall.

The plaque couldn’t be more apt.

Family Break To St Mawes

The first thing that strikes you is the light. Even on the most miserable drizzly November day, the house was beautifully bright.

Family Holiday To St. Mawes

The next thing that you notice is the space. Two living rooms, a large dining room and a kitchen, all open plan, fluidly leading into one another.

Moonrakers Lounge

Then there is the view. Sea views from every angle as you stare blissfully out of the doors onto the scenic Falmouth Bay.

Moonrakers View

Paradise really was found. The house itself is luxury through and through. It’s spacious, it’s cosy and so easy to fall in love with.

Sometimes we all deserve a special treat, a luxury break away. The one thing that is obvious about Moonrakers, is that it’s the perfect place to share. Whether it’s with family, or even with friends.

It can sleep up to 12 people. With 5 beautifully decorated ensuite bedrooms, you’d be silly not to invite the people that you love along to enjoy it with you.

The Rooms

The bedrooms are incredibly spacious. Most have a sofa where you can take yourself off to relax in private should you wish too.

Although open, the separate living areas are hugely accommodating. This means that even with a full house, you’ll never feel like you’re on top of each other. Oh and did I mention that there is a games room?

Moonrakers Games Room

Stocked with a wii, dvds, board games, books and a pool table, the games room is the perfect space to give excitable teenagers their own zone, or even to enjoy a family night full of fun.

The wonderful thing about the house is that its adaptable. It’s peaceful and relaxing but it can also be turned into a real entertainment pad with a sound system that plays in every room downstairs.

Moonrakers Living Area

Family Areas

There are family areas where you can sit and play board games, private corners where you can curl up alone and read, and a dining table big enough for all of you to share a delicious home cooked family dinner, that’s if you don’t take advantage of St. Mawes Retreats private chefs of course!

Moonrakers Door

Whether you bring excitable kids, independent toddlers, moody teenagers or elderly relatives, the house is so large, you’ll find a room for everyone and yet will still find a little adult area to retreat to for some peace and quiet.

The house is stocked with everything you could possibly need for entertaining and a week away. There is a pushchair for little ones, children’s books and toys, and a dressing up cupboard stocked full of kids fancy dress outfits.

Moonrakers Reading

The kitchen cupboards are stocked with everything from plates and saucepans, right down to finer details like espresso cups and saucers. Unfortunately we hadn’t remembered to pack Evie’s cups, so we were more than grateful for the toddler friendly cupboard, stocked full of plastic plates, cups and baby cutlery.

Have you fallen in love with it yet?

We Love This House!

We fell completely in love with the house. Evie loved running around the spacious living zones, reading books and playing hide and seek.

Jamies favourite place was in the games room, taking full advantage of the pool table.

Jamie Games Room

My favourite space was the bathroom in the master bedroom. It was so blissful getting to steal a moment to myself in the luxurious roll top bath that overlooks the sea.

Moonrakers Bathroom

In just two days we’d felt as if we’d been to a sanctuary.

Outside Spaces

Despite the rain and strong winds, we just had to take advantage of the extensive and enclosed private gardens and go for an after lunch stroll. I imagine that in summer the gardens are where guests can spend most of their time.

St. Mawes Gardens

We were amazed to find a trampoline, table tennis table, football goal and a bbq hidden away outside.

The disadvantage of the rain, meant that we didn’t take full advantage of the balcony. The balcony runs the entire stretch of the upstairs on one side of the house, and can be accessed by three of the bedrooms. If it was a tad warmer, breakfast on the terrace would have been such a wonderful treat.

Moonrakers Books

Moonrakers really is the place to go if you want to feel completely spoilt. Whether it’s for a milestone birthday, a family get together or a place where you can go away with a group of friends, I’d recommend this stunning house to all.

St. Mawes Retreats have lots of properties available for holidays. Be sure to go and browse their stunning website so that you can start dreaming of your next holiday.

If you loved this place, check out our stay at the equally beautiful Bedruthan Steps, possibly the most family friendly hotel we’ve ever encountered, and a little hideaway we found in Boscastle.

What do you think of Moonrakers and St. Mawes Retreats? Have you ever stayed in Cornwall?

*We were given the opportunity to stay at the beautiful house in return for this review. All opinions are honest and my own.

Wow, the house is stunning, but the gardens are out of this world! Makes me definitely want to explore this part of Cornwall more – we’ve only stuck to our tried and tested parts before (lazy I know!)

    • December 2, 2015 / 8:30 pm

It’s so, so beautiful. We live in Cornwall and we’re so bad for sticking to our usual areas too. This definitely made us explore more places we wouldn’t normally go to. x

Before I even mention the house, Evie’s dress is soooo gorgeous! (as is she of course) that house? WOW! I love it, nice and modern but yet cosy too. I think I would have spent the entire time in that bath though! I will definitely refer back to this should we ever head down to Cornwall xx

It’s so, so beautiful isn’t it. I always think St. Mawes feels like somewhere exotic too. The coastline looks so different from St. Ives bay where we live. x
