Ok, so it’s official. I have a threenager. I’m batting down the hatches, hiding away the treats and I’m officially in ‘strict’ mummy mode until the threenager disperses and brings back my oh so lovely child.
Seriously, I feel like Evie’s just gone to sleep and woken up as a little dictator. I say that, but really, lots of people in the last few weeks have started to wake me up to the fact that my three year old is pretty much in charge around here. Not so much towards me, but towards everyone else around us. Especially when I’m not in ear or eye shot.
She’s also been seriously trying her luck with me. She is suddenly disinterested in the food I cook, its a struggle at bed time and she is being VERY demanding. All of this alongside cries and tantrums at least two to three times an hour.
The smallest statement; ‘Evie we need to pop to the shops’ turns into some crazy spectacle where she throws herself on the floor, wails, screams, kicks, produces tears, etc, etc.
Jeez Evie, all we need is some milk!
The worst was when I went to pick her up at nursery this week. She ran and hid and then screamed, wailed and kicked, as I tried to take her home. I was so embarrassed and her key workers were looking at me like I was the devil in disguise.
Other than my three year old issues (which you can find out more about in this weeks ‘Her & Me‘ post), I can’t believe how quickly this week has flown by.
I feel a little unproductive for some reason. Do you ever get the feeling like you’re on a treadmill and even though you are getting loads of things done, you just aren’t getting anywhere? I really don’t know where time has gone this week. Come back! I really wish that Bernard’s Watch was real. Regardless of a three year old ruler and an unproductive week, I have loved lots of little things this week!
Threenager, Lace Tops And A Bloggers Wish List #LittleLoves
This week we’ve been loving Disney, finding new books to read and discovering a beautiful new online clothes store. Here’s my #LittleLoves from this week:
Books and Blogs – I’ve been reading this week! Hooray! Thank you so much to everyone for all the book recommendations last week. I’ve got some new titles winging their way to me now! This week I’ve been reading a book I’ve had for year, but not yet read. It’s called ‘The Burying Beetle’ and its by Ann Kelley. It’s a book that’s set in St. Ives where I live.
It follows a young 12 year old girl who has a life threatening heart condition. Regardless of the morbid underlying story, the main character has such a lust for life and a passion for everything around her. It really makes you think about your own life and makes you see that you shouldn’t take anything for granted. It’s actually a book for teenagers, so if you have any slightly unappreciative teens in your life, give them this book!
I’ve also really enjoyed reading some new blogs this week. I’ve found a few new favourite bloggers, including ‘A Mum Track Mind’, ‘Surrey Mama’ and ‘Treasure Every Moment’.
Suits – This week I’ve been watching Suits! I’ve started setting up the iPad and having this on in the background when I’m doing admin work on Life Unexpected. I am so addicted to this show at the moment! I’m on the final season, but I’ll leave you the trailer for the first ever season, in case you’ve never seen it before:
A Lot Of Disney Music – Evie finally watched a WHOLE film a couple of weeks ago. It’s the first time ever she’s sat and watched something from beginning to end. She’s never had the attention span for it before. But, we all watched Cars together and she absolutely loved it. Since then we’ve also watched Frozen (she is now addicted to anything Frozen) and The Little Mermaid, which she didn’t like so much.
She asked if we could listen to the Frozen soundtrack this week. After listening to ‘Let It Go’ a thousand+ times, I decided to download the ‘best’ of Disney on Spotify and we’ve been playing it in the car. Unfortunately I’m only allowed it on when its just me and Evie, but we make lots of excuses to go on little drives!
Bloggers Christmas Wish List – I really haven’t had time to be crafty this week, but I have made a HUGEEEEEE Christmas gift guide for bloggers. Does that count? I worked so hard on it and it took me so long. I really wanted it to be as helpful as possible and not just a quick gift guide for Christmas. It’s full of genuine recommendations. I spoke to a lot of bloggers, did a lot of research and also included some blogging related products that really help me in my everyday blogging life.
I am so grateful for everyone who has shared this post. It went semi viral (well for me) and it really made my week. But the thing I’m most overwhelmed with is the feedback so far. Everyone has been so lovely about it and the comments I’ve had, especially from bloggers I seriously look up to, have been so amazing. If you are looking for things to add to your ‘Blogging’ Christmas wish list, to hand to your families or to buy for yourself, I’d love for you to check it out too.
Lace Tops from Easy Clothes – I got some gorgeous new lace tops this week from a store that is officially my new favourite. I’ve been looking for some lace strap tops for a long time now but they’re always really expensive – at least £50+ for a little lace cami. I always see my favourite instagrammers wearing them and they look really casual but so beautiful. One instagrammer I follow posted a link to where she got her top from a few weeks ago and when I checked, I noticed the website is selling them for about £15.
I ordered three of them and expected them to be crappy quality, but they are really lovely. Especially the satin one (I’ll link to it here). Unfortunately my teenage sister borrowed my white one before I had a chance to even wear it and now its covered in fake tan. I’m so cross, but it’s a good excuse to go back on and order some more things. The website is called ‘Easy Clothes’ and they do all kinds of beautiful clothing. I’m 100% ordering some knitwear next.
Curious Little Explorers – I started up the #CuriousLittleExplorers hashtag on Instagram over a year ago now and I find it so phenomenal how much it has grown and just how many people from all over the world have shared there pictures through it. Every week I love scrolling through the feed to see what adventures everyone has been on and to see everyones different photography styles. Here are a few of my favourite pictures from this week:
If you have any outdoor family pictures, I’d love for you to join in!
