Beyond The Strip And Bright Lights: Las Vegas As A Family-Friendly Resort

Despite its “Sin City” reputation, there is reason to believe that Las Vegas has actually developed into a world class family entertainment hub that goes way beyond the stigma that it’s associated with.

The fact is that now, there is more variety than ever before and, if you look through the calendar year, ‘Vegas has become a hub for numerous events, including the Formula 1, usually held in November; avoid unless you all like motorsport!

For 2026, there are even more family-friendly activities to partake in which may just make you forget that you’re actually in the world’s gambling capital.

Places To Stay And Things To See

Believe it or not, there are actually places where you can stay in Las Vegas where there is less emphasis on gambling that still provide the same amount of quality and comfort that somewhere like the MGM Grand does and at very reasonable rates.

Excalibur for example, is located on the South Strip and has plenty of things to do. Despite basic rooms (which are clean), there are four pools, a castle-theme for kids, many amenities nearby and friendly staff.

However, in general, there are loads of cool and diverse things to do in Las Vegas as a family, including iFLY Indoor Skydiving and staying with this theme; the Slotzilla Zip Line on Fremont Street if you are wanting an adrenaline rush away from the tables.  Meanwhile, hiking in Red Rock Canyon can make for a welcome and breathtakingly scenic break.

New on the strip for 2026 and perfectly family-friendly are Robotaxis (free until later in the year), which your kids will absolutely love; no driver or steering wheel, available via Zoox and it beats $30 per day parking! In addition, you can find Area 15 expansion, which is a Museum of Ice Cream (unlimited ice cream) and Universal Horror Unleashed where it’s Halloween, every day; all-in-all, a great activity for families with young children.

Should you get a “when in Rome” type of urge, you can find gambling machines everywhere, including bathrooms, so you will be able to find your favourite slot games, if you want a quick 10 minute break away from the kids!

The Shows, Oh The Shows!

From magic, to acrobats and world class musicians, Las Vegas has it all; many of them family-friendly, if a late night or two is allowed and your kids are sure to love it. Often performed in spectacular venues, these usually make for the highlight of many people’s trips to ‘Vegas and some of the best performers in the world have made the Strip their ‘stage’, some more than once.

Even the light shows of the iconic Bellagio Fountain occur every night (free to watch) and make for an extraordinary spectacle for those who have never seen anything like it; almost a magical experience for children.

And, you won’t go hungry either. There are catering options for every type of palette – and budget, with plenty of places up and down the strip, including Evel Pie downtown that does affordable pizza by the slice until into the small hours.

All in all, you can absolutely visit Las Vegas as a family and still have a good time without gambling, especially with the number of attractions that include replicas of landmarks from around the world including the Eiffel Tower. Ooh, la la!
