How I Claim Compensation For A Delayed Flight

Ah, the dreaded delayed flight airport experience. Something I’ve been through a couple of times and don’t really want to do again.

If you like airports like me and the whole experience, then this kind of takes the pain out of it a little bit, but if you have a schedule to stick to, then being delayed can be an annoyance.

Many people have mixed feelings about the whole airport/flying experience, though I have to say that I quite like it. The buzz, the atmosphere, walking through Duty Free, checking gate information; for some, this is a major stress which, if you are rushing, is understandable.

It’s very rare though that I have that problem. I like to get there with plenty of time and, the beauty of it is, I never need to check luggage in and if I time it right, the queue for security is very minimal; usually 15 minutes, which is nothing really.

The last time my flight was delayed though, it was a little bit annoying, but not too bad. Because I tend to fly early in the morning (between 5am and 8am), it meant that on this particular occasion, I didn’t take off until 10.30am. Absolutely fine.

However, I was still entitled to compensation and that is where, after doing my research and shopping around, AirHelp appeared to be the best and I’m happy to say they truly delivered. They were an absolute pleasure to deal with and the process was as stress free as that first airport beer!

Claiming Compensation – The Process

Claiming airline delay compensation for many people can be a very inconvenient process, however, Air Help’s website breaks down the process very easily. Essentially, you can check for free whether you are entitled to claim compensation via a quick, four stage eligibility process, where you are asked the most important questions, before being asked to upload documents.

This niche is obviously one that causes a lot of stress for people. Firstly, being delayed is never fun – especially if you have young kids and the hours are unsociable and then, the hassle of sorting out compensation can be even worse – particularly if you don’t know what you are doing.

There are some good companies out there who provide a lot of help and advice, though, like every industry, there are also those who don’t deliver. My experiences have always been good.

Airports That I’ve Always Had Luck With

I don’t know if there are particular airports or airlines that simply don’t experience delays, though I’ve had a lot of luck with some.

Usually I fly out of Manchester Airport in the UK (sometimes Gatwick or Stansted if I’m in London) and I’ve had a lot of joy with each.

They’re all easy to get to, which makes for a great bonus and I’ve never experienced a major delay – sure; 15 minutes here and there, though nothing that has distressed me. I also try to not let airports stress me out so arriving early helps me a lot with this. Ultimately, though, if I need to claim for a delayed flight, there are some good options out there.
