Who is Danny Go? My Daughter’s New Best Friend

Who is Danny Go? My Daughter’s New Best Friend

You become an expert in all sorts of random things once you become a parent.

For example, I know all the words to the theme tune of Ariel on Disney+, and about 300 others. A while back, I turned investigator to discover the truth behind the Mr Tumble criminal record rumours (he’s innocent). And I can tell you exactly how the 6 7 meme started.

My latest discovery, is a chap on YouTube by the name of Danny Go.

He’s massive, so I don’t know how I missed him the first time around with my son, but my daughter is obsessed with him. She wakes up in the morning and her first words are “Go Go”, because she can’t say Danny Go yet. She goes downstairs and screams if her brother is already watching Spongebob.

But when it’s her turn and Candy Cane Crush or the Bounce song come on, her little face lights up and she’s bouncing up and down all over the place. It’s adorable.

Anyway, this fascination of hers led me to wonder who this Danny fella is. So I investigated, and here’s what I found.

About Danny Go: How It Started

Danny Go Candycane Crush

Danny Go is a high energy character dreamed up by Daniel Coleman, from Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. He first started the YouTube channel in 2019, and after realising their dance videos were the most popular, the channel really took off.

Daniel creates short, semi-educational videos that encourage kids to be active, often getting them to dance along with him to different themes, or to dodge and duck during ‘adventures’ when certain obstacles come towards them on the screen.

A lot of schools actually use the videos to give the kids ‘brain breaks’ in the middle of class. It gives them a chance to get up and jump around without disrupting the lesson.

It’s not just him, though. He creates the videos with his wife, Mindy, or Mindy Mango as she’s known in the videos, and his friends, Michael Finster and Matthew Padgett. They play ‘Bearhead’ and ‘Pap Pap’. Another friend, Dominic Geralds, sometimes appears too and ups the energy even more.

This cast of crazy characters are like catnip to my 2 year old daughter, look at her:

Excuse the mess!

The team create all of the music and graphics themselves, so it’s a real group effort. Some of the songs are genuinely catchy too. I dare you not to join in with The Wiggle Dance, for example. I sometimes sing it when I’m cooking 😂🙈

They even release behind the scenes clips on social media if you want to see how the videos are made. It’s mostly done using a blue screen setup. They started in Daniel’s garage but the upgraded to a horse barn across the drive, which is mad when you consider Danny Go’s net worth is estimated somewhere around the $5 million mark.

The brand is now so big, they can sell out live tours, release their own toys and books, and they even have a streaming deal with Netflix.

Not bad for being silly in the garage with your friends, hey?

Family Tragedy: Losing a Son

I was enjoying learning about all this, but then I found something that I wasn’t expecting, and it absolutely broke my heart.

Danny and Mindy had two sons: Isaac and Levi. Isaac was born with a rare genetic disorder called Fanconi Anemia. This can cause physical abnormalities, progressive depletion of blood cells, bone marrow failure and an increased risk of cancer.

The condition had caused issues throughout Isaac’s life, but in December 2025, Danny’s family found out that Isaac had cancer in his mouth. They acted quickly to remove it, but Isaac’s condition made an already difficult situation harder and limited treatment options. In the end, it became about quality of life and keeping him comfortable.

Isaac passed away on the 21st of May 2026, aged just 14 years.

What struck me was the way Daniel and Mindy handled it all. They made sure Isaac’s remaining time was as enjoyable and peaceful as possible, and talked about how honoured they were to have been his parents. Honestly, I was in bits reading their Instagram posts.

I thought about all the joy these guys were bringing to millions of children around the world on a daily basis, while at the same time going through the most appalling personal tragedy a parent can imagine.

They are still releasing videos too, after a bit of a break, and I want to end this piece with a video that Danny Go’s son actually appears in:

Here he is, doing the dinosaur dance. Isaac is the one in green, forever having fun in one of his Dad’s videos, stomping like a dinosaur.

So yes, this turned into a much more emotional experience than I was expecting, but I tell you what, it made me appreciate those moments watching my little girl dancing and babbling along to Danny Go even more.

How wonderful to be responsible for a million tiny moments of joy every single day.
